Ye can’t rap for s*** anymore, it’s sad

    It’s gotten noticeably worse

It's not that he can't rap anymore.

His delivery or flow has taken a dive more than his actual lyrics. Like That Remix, for example, had a lot of funny and cool bars that was reminiscent of TLOP era Ye but his flow was pretty gutter on that track.

Say Less(assuming it's not AI) stood out not because the lyrics was much better than his other verses but because the delivery and flow was smooth and sharp like his prime years.

If Ye had that "Say Less" delivery on Vultures, it would've brought out some of the cool lines/bars he did have on that album. But the mic presence on Vultures outside Burn was underwhelming.

I think the only one ahead of him is Jay but you have to keep in mind Jay has nearly 20 albums and is almost 20 yrs older than Kendrick so Kendrick will definitely surpass him.

One thing no one’s mentioned and sets Kendrick apart from everyone else is his live studio performance. Jay and Kanye ain't even close to him in this regard. Kendrick took it to a whole new level during TPAB performing songs like These Walls, UU3, Blue Faces etc.

Also Jay and Ye never really had a strong unforgettable "moment" that really shook the music industry like 50 Cent with In Da Club or Culture Vulture with garbage Hotline Bling. Kendrick’s got at least two maybe three iconic moments...his Control verse, the TPAB album and now the battle (NLU) with blackface Jimmy.

And that’s just one aspect of what makes him top 2.

    1. Pulitzer Prize Winner
    2. 17x Grammy Winner
    3. 40x Bet HipHop Winner
    4. Damn near perfect Discog
    5. 3 Iconic Moments
    6. Top notch studio performer
    7. TPAB is recognized as one of the greatest albums ever made
    8. GKMC has been ranked among the top 10 greatest albums ever.
    9. At least 80+ amazing songs
    10. One of the best when it comes to features with Cole the only one close.
    11. He’s done all this in the span of 13 years.

There’s so much more I could add but I think this is enough. By the time he’s finished he’ll be the best to ever do it.

kendrick is a solid artist, but let’s not act like he’s the first to piece rhymes together

Rapping ability – His delivery is probably his weakest point. His voice and tone aren’t very captivating and sometimes sound flat, like he’s rapping from the bottom of a trash can.

Writing – What exactly do you mean by “writing”? It overlaps with concepts and storytelling

Flows – Kendrick isn’t doing anything new lol. Nas, Lupe, Wayne, Black Thought, Em, Cole, and Andre 3K arguably had better flows years ago. Let’s not rewrite history to prop him up

Concepts – Sure, he’s made conceptual albums, but so have others like Lupe. If you think his are better, that’s just your opinion

Cohesive albums – We all heard his latest stuff—it sounds like 10 different versions of NLU. I mean the consensus was this s*** was a mixtape and another one is dropping in 3 MO

Making hits – He’s had hits, no doubt. his biggest one was seven years ago however

Storytelling – If you enjoy his stories, cool. But as a 38-year-old multimillionaire still rapping about stuff he heard in Compton, it can feel played out to most

Diss tracks – Big asterisk here. He made up a fake daughter (AUTO L) weak lines like the Haley Joel Osment bar, and made wild accusations while ignoring real predators around him. Plus, he picked a fight with Drake when the whole industry was already piling on. But the real elephant in the room here is that 2x out of the big 3 have accused bro of botting while hes still pretending

Pop songs – I’ll give him this one; he’s got some pop hits.

Let’s not ignore how much the media and industry have pushed Kendrick. Without all that backing, we might not even be having this conversation. No other rapper—Jay, Ye, Travis, Drake—gets that level of excuse-making blood

I'm convinced he's either that pro-Kendrick bot from the old KTT(the one who had an Andre avi on here) or he's a bandwagon stan who got into him during the beef.

These new Kendrick stans deadass spend more time tearing down other rappers than celebrating their GOAT. It reminds me of early 2010's era Eminem stans in a nutshell.

he really made that big 3 s*** look silly this year

It's kind of incredible how flawlessly he did it too.

  • Nov 29, 2024

These lists always depend on what you value the most in a rapper.

But yea, Kendricks name will be forever mentioned now among the Hovs, Nas, Wayne, Ye and Pacs. He has the strongest case of being a Goat among the 2010 acts

  • Nov 29, 2024

Very few have a similar resume. He basically got it all, only thing hes not top tier in is features, but he still has some of the most iconic feature verses in the last 20 years

  • Yeah... no.

In no particular order my personal top 5 would be:

    • Kendrick
    • Nas
    • Jay
    • Wayne
    • Pac

With Andre and Biggie and Em just missing the cut

Might switch Jay out with Andre tbh

I think this is consensus top 5 no order when you factor everything

  • Nov 29, 2024

He already achieved GOAT status with TPAB lol
