to be clear this is currently tv but will 100% likely branch to film, games and all art in terms of fighting against AI

Part of the strike has to do with it apparently I wasn't joking. Studios want to when they sign a writer input the writing into a AI database of some sort so its essentially machine learning from anything they write. It all sounds oddly dystopian.

    oh yeah we're cooked

    Are you f***ing insane?

It’s a job. It’s literally a job. If you work a job you should make enough money to survive.

Unfortunately in our society any artistic/creative endeavor that leads to the creator making money (not even necessarily in significant amounts) is seen as more of a luxury than it is a job, which is what it is.

And by proxy, do you mean to say you’d prefer the execs (who ultimately make the primary decisions, and are often the initiators/commissioners, of the objectionable content that you’re highlighting) to be able to hoard their profits to the writers’ detriment?

  • May 4, 2023

So you want the artist to suffer so the executives and shareholders can make more money? Because those are the two sides of this

You telling me ppl writing the s*** I watch are poor too?

For prestige tv shows, no, probably not.

But there’s a LOT of tv shows and movies that you haven’t seen or even heard of. Like 90% of the scripted content on Netflix that you think of as filler was written by someone, possibly, especially in the case of shows, multiple people.

You can bet that many of those people are struggling, especially considering how many of them are forced to live in and around someplace like LA.

Why would you not support them over the business owners

Whatever contempt you may have for the writers for whatever reason, should be times a thousand for their employers

    So yes

it wouldnt be a lot right? i mean, do they write the dialogue?? or do the actors just say whatever? or do directors get write the scene? do they get paid on top of the writing? i mean they would write where it takes place if it does.. some of those sets do look pretty lay but some are so specific to the plot ...
