at one point he was the most unique sounding artist even during the mainstream crossover
now i feel like any yt girl with a shure 57 can replicate this s***
Bro like the world was introduced to him with "The Hills". Like have you ever heard a song like that in the mainstream again? I can't even think of another song by The Weeknd that sounds like that yet he insists on making Blinding Lights over and over again
The Trilogy Weekend was actually a character and this is the real Abel
Wasn't that nigga making corny pop demos before that one producer gave him his whole persona and stage name? I might be thinking of someone else

He is never going back to his old sound let’s be real
I’m not the biggest fan of his Idols singles but they fr gave me hope that he would try something new on the new album but I guess not

I looked into it and yeah it was a guy named Jeremy Rose. This is the only video I could find on the internet about it

Basically he came up with the stage name and the dark R&B sound of HOB that Abel ran with. They were originally a duo (hence why his name sounds like a band) but Abel cut him off because he wouldn't pay him and didn't give him any credit, even acted like he came up with the name
This is what he was making before he met Jeremy

I still feel like Able must have heavily related to and felt the sound in his soul, because Trilogy and what followed was too good to come from a dishonest place.
I also think that Able probably got inspired and started running with the production ideas himself too, since he has such eclectic influences.
That being said though, it’s crazy to think he didn’t pioneer it himself. I guess sometimes you need a spark from outside of you to start the fire of your soul
and the streets saying another max martin single incoming in ~2 weeks
all bro needed to do was lock up in the studio with illangelo and metro but he became obsessed with max martin instead
I can never forgive The Weeknd for going this long without returning to that classic, immaculate trilogy sound. You already got the money and fame man you don’t need to keep doing this s***
whats crazy is that quite a few songs from Trilogy have gone viral recently. shows u that he could actually be successful with that sound
Interesting.

Yeah not taking away from his own talent but he probably would still be making s*** like that song I linked above without Jeremy. Over the past few years, with s*** like The Idol, it's clear to me that it was somewhat a persona. The corny pop songs is what he always really wanted to make and now his career has kinda came full circle with this new song

I totally get what you mean.
I agree that the pop aspect has probably always been one aspect of his personality, but I think the moody R&B is just as genuine an aspect too.
I think he just has multiple faucets, like most people.
That being said I also agree that he may have never came up with the Trilogy sound all on his own. Just goes to show how important collaboration and having a network is!
now that I think about it its just Taylor Swift for dudes cant be mad at it but its still horrendously boring to me
Man is unbelievably on point itt

I love how every weeknd roll out is
Him posting obscure & dope references
To releasing a generic ah song
All aesthetis, little substance
Sad!
Nigga who can’t be objective about drakes trash music wants us to believe that he is being objective about someone Drake doesn’t like
Bro is obsessed with drake
