he been out for 4+ years. Youth growing up. He already admitted he doesnβt give a f*** about making music too, and it shows more with each project. Shown very little growth as an artist sonically
See thats whats crazy is that theres plenty of good music he's dropped or been featured in in the last 4 years so thats why I don't get that specific criticism. If you are saying like "oh EA was bad" or "these features suck" its at least reasonable if you got some justification (hasn't grown sonically is at least a valid criticism even if I dont really agree) but saying everything hes made for 4+ years hasnt been good is just weird to me, especially these people that were big fans back in the day that were hype for the future into 2018-2019, got disappointed and are now rewriting the narrative.
Regarding the youth point, he definitely had a younger audience but I mean I know plenty of people my age that didnt get into his music until their 20s and are still checking out all his new stuff. The younger fans who just hopped on what was trendy atm were never gonna last anyway, every fanbase has those.
Uzi wouldnt constantly be recording and trying to collab with these newer artists if he didnt care. He dropped a bunch of music fans wanted for years and while he may just record a bunch and pick the best of it, if he actually didnt care he wouldnt put in that type of effort (hed just record over a month, drop whatever he liked then and f*** off for a year or two). You also gotta remember he was getting f***ed with behind the scenes where he couldnt drop music he wanted to (even as early as LIR) so hes probably become jaded to the whole process. The point is many of the artists are trying to get themselves and family out their situation and live good primarily but its clear he has and does care about music he's made (even if it isnt obvious in the present). He's even called his songs his kids and basically says by the time he releases them, they are dead, and I doubt many artists would connect with their own stuff that way if they didnt care.
Hes actively listening and trying to make what he wants and what fans want, and while I dont think its a huge positive the fans have a big say in what type of music he feels like making, hes putting in more effort than others in his lane to make his music reach the people who f*** with him. This is a big reason why people feel like he's stagnating sonically but thats all the feedback hes getting from the OGs, go back and make the s*** you made years ago. I dont think thats right and obviously he doesnt have to (EA shows that it was in definitely a step in a different direction) but like I'm not expecting Uzi to be a Tyler or Ye who changes his sound drastically between drops. He has a certain set of strengths and and as long as he plays to them the music generally winds up being good if not great. Do we fault Jay-Z for rapping similarly album to album? No, because his stories and bars are what connect with people. Uzi's melodies, fast flow, and personal lyrics about love/heartbreak/his life are what connect for me and he hasnt lost that yet (even if its not as new or exciting as it used to be).
There are valid criticisms and complaints but the type of s*** I generally see regurgitated is the "hasnt been good since X date" and that one specifically I have issues with as Ive explained. The people who are out are out at this point, but if you arnt actively listening then why should your opinion matter on the new stuff (not that anyones really actually does at the end of the day)?
yea ight nigga
yea ight nigga
Lmao
Uzi gotta relax with the age deal
If thatβs the truth heβd be born two weeks away from Keef which is crazy as well but come on now. Carti pulled the same s*** many years ago too lmao

I still don't know how old carti is honestly
I still don't know how old carti is honestly
Iβm sticking by the Tupac lore
I still don't know how old carti is honestly
The old interviews and articles from his Awful days pin him at being born in 95 but obviously the Tupac death day / Carti bday thing caught on after he started branding himself being born in 96. In 2017 Uno tweeted out happy 22nd or in 2018 he tweeted out happy 23rd on Cartis bday but deleted it (I think I still have a sceeenshot somewhere on my old pc), I definitely think heβs a 95 baby (old basketball records from HS also pin him as a 95 baby) but the 96 one is more fun in regards of hip hop lore.

Real ass post. I'm a new Uzi fan and wrote off his music back in 2016-2019 because I didn't find his aesthetic for me, but EA was the project that made me go "Fuck it. Ill check him out." And I realized he is incredibly talented as a songwriter/freestyle and rapper. And s***, I was 22 when it dropped.
I wonder if Uzi got another hit as transferable as The Way Life Goes in him still
Feel like since then he hasn't had a song that has infected the mainstream ear as well as The Way Life Goes did
New Patek came pretty close, just that 6+ minute runtime hindered it
20 Min also proved to be a sleeper hit, and definitely has an online cult-following
Myron, Sanguine Paradise & Futsal Shuffle made a decent amount of noise among the casual demographic as well I guess. I was speaking to a co-worker the other day who is like 4/5 years younger and when I told him I was into Uzi he cited Myron as a Uzi song he was familiar with so his presence is still definitely felt
The Way Life Goes just had that inherent pop-crossover appeal to it, I'd like Uzi to have a go at trying to make a pop song again honestly - he's always harboured untapped pop-hit potential. Plus it'd be a accolade to Forever Young's rollout as well, cooking up a smash pop-hit by no means detracts from the wider subject matter and sound of the project. The Weeknd did it with After Hours super successfully, anchoring the rollout with a huge transferable pop song but then when the actual album came around, the darker, grittier material that many of his core fanbase long for was still present
