rapping as in how it’s tastefully employed within an artistic framework to convey an artists’ ideas, feelings, thoughts (whatever, self-expression) is an art, it’s literally a part of the entire package that goes into making music

i can even make an argument that rapping (as in the act itself) is art, because there’s a way to go about it in terms of expressing it in an musically pleasing manner, i can even extend this to the actual act of painting itself, if i even wanted to (which i don’t really, honestly)

and yeah, it is because you reducing rapping to it not even being an art is exactly why people try to sneak Carti into all time lists, in spite of him largely completely not even fitting the classical picture of what an all timer looks like in hip-hop at all

I personally think what makes someone a good rapper is an interesting convo. I think there’s multiple ways you can approach rapping. Similar to martial arts how you can be a bjj nigga or a kick boxing nigga. Both are effective but just different approaches to fighting
