he's been on since like 2015 and has had more mid years (2018-2023) than good years (2016-2017)

was never that great of an artist and his image always implied an artistic capability that he never really had...I always knew the hype was blown out of proportion when the song that sounds like SpongeBob went big

But I do mostly agree with OP

The thing is though, despite this embarrassing shenanigans, Uzi always performs well

Just Wanna Rock has been the second biggest hit of their career, and that dropped last year, and Pink Tape went #1

They have a strong core following who for the most part, will always show support. Plus they have such a rich backlog of hits in their discography already

This behaviour is the biggest problem, and it started with back-tracking about Eternal Atake which I hate, since EA was a great album

Pink Tape is overhated too, it’s pretty solid, but Uzi gives skeptics a chance to knock their music & their confidence when they backtrack and say this bullshit all the time

I understand I’m on slippery territory, but is it bad if I say yes?

This site is very progressive on these issues but they don’t ban or even warn anyone for misgendering Uzi

Because the truth is no one takes it serious and it seems like just another aspect of their artistic/public identity crisis

I think Uzi may have deliberately tried to co opt the lgbtq movement as a straight man in order to appeal to a younger audience which they are clearly known to be desperately chasing

Remember, their own girlfriend misgendered them and had to be corrected online if their own girlfriend doesn’t know about it or take it seriously then what does that tell you?

It’s impossible to revive or reinvent rap, even for Uzi. The genre is on its tail-end.

Maybe if you got a coochie you could still innovate rapping about that.

Both him and yatchy went too hard on making youth such a big part of their aesthetic. That s*** was bound to have problems once father time start getting that ass. Yatchy trying to claw his way out of that with pink floyd and alchemist beats. Wonder what uzi gonna do

it’s a common argument i see between Kanye stans/Kendrick stans whenever they’re trying to argue who’s better than who in an all time list, separating rapping from being incorporated into artistry never made any sense to me

they’ll always say “Wayne is a better rapper, but Kanye is a better artist” when that doesn’t make any sort of sense rapping is an art in itself, if Wayne is a great rapper that should factor into his evaluation of an artist overall

you can argue that Kanye can execute his albums better, got a better vision, aesthetics, whatever else, you don’t gotta resort to separating rapping/artistry

a painting isn't necessarily art, it could be decor or a technical work
