I still think Eternal Atake is a genuinely great album. he never should have let people convince him it wasn't
He should've stood on bidness like Carti with WLR but he fell for fan discourse and dropped a deluxe the next week. Now look at how folks view WLR and Eternal Atake years later
I feel you I’m not saying he’s reached Uzi’s level just yet. But I’m just making a prediction. I think carti’s WLR appeal is very similar to the appeal Uzi had and I think whether it’s the next album or the one after that, he’s going to make a project that is so superficial and fake that people see through his pandering
Yeah, I still feel like Uzi has the advantage because I think their the better artist. Carti signing Ken & Lone and making them pop off his image is what's intriguing people the most. He established himself as an artist & tastemaker, creating distance between him & Uzi & most of his peers
I feel like he will look to them two for inspo similar to Drake & Yachty, to keep him fresh, which could go either way tbh, and I say that as a fan of both.
When you say superficial tho, what do you mean? cause I love bro but is his music not already superficial?

Ain’t he in group chats with a bunch of his fan pages?
Do y’all remember when he was Renji or whatever?
he dropped that way and i ignored dat .
i feel like he needs his own label. go find/build the next. he already likes doing underground features anyways. sofaygo definitely would've fit better with uzi than trav.

Yeah I do think WLR was superficial
But I just think it’s a live by the sword die by the sword type thing
If you live by such a shallow youthful aesthetic of “oh I’m so young and punk” then it’s a matter of time before that runs out
Carti has done much better sustaining it than Uzi but I don’t think he’ll be able to drop another project as surface level as WLR. I think if he doesn’t step it up then people will start to see through the lie that he’s a creative and innovative artist
Acknowledging that your last few projects were mid as an artist of his level is crazy lol

I agree. Especially with his output. He's been living completely off aesthetic since WLR, and he's blueballed his core fans enough for them to expect MUSIC to be greater than that. I think he's aligned himself with the right people to keep him afloat for years, but ultimately he's the one that has to deliver. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Breaks my heart because their my goat
But I do mostly agree with OP
The thing is though, despite this embarrassing shenanigans, Uzi always performs well
Just Wanna Rock has been the second biggest hit of their career, and that dropped last year, and Pink Tape went #1
They have a strong core following who for the most part, will always show support. Plus they have such a rich backlog of hits in their discography already
This behaviour is the biggest problem, and it started with back-tracking about Eternal Atake which I hate, since EA was a great album
Pink Tape is overhated too, it’s pretty solid, but Uzi gives skeptics a chance to knock their music & their confidence when they backtrack and say this bullshit all the time
Saw this coming when he was posting s*** like this
Then lied about his age
if he was lying he would have just kept it to himself
Bro, realistically this dude probably googled schizophrenia medication and then made a song about it to seem quirky.
There’s not any part of my being that believes Uzi got a schizo diagnosis he just wanted y’all to think he was Donny darko lol
What happened is, he blew up in 2016-17 because he figured out a perfect way to pander to that moment and the youth in that moment
He was already lowkey old at this point so when he became a hit with people years younger than him, it sent him into a crisis where he had to try to make himself younger than he actually was and overcompensate for feeling older than his fans (and peers)
And this led to many insane actions like claiming to be schizophrenic, changing pronouns to claim to be part of LGBT to connect with the youth, and constantly saying this stuff about bringing “old Uzi” back because he doesn’t know what his fans want because he’s old
So you’re saying they’re faking being non-binary?
This guys assuredness/confidence has been bludgeoned in a way I can’t recall, in chats with his moron fans, beholden to people who don’t even know what they want from you sounds like torture lol, if you’re an artist you have trust yourself & not flinch lmao
So you’re saying they’re faking being non-binary?
I understand I’m on slippery territory, but is it bad if I say yes?
This site is very progressive on these issues but they don’t ban or even warn anyone for misgendering Uzi
Because the truth is no one takes it serious and it seems like just another aspect of their artistic/public identity crisis
I think Uzi may have deliberately tried to co opt the lgbtq movement as a straight man in order to appeal to a younger audience which they are clearly known to be desperately chasing
Remember, their own girlfriend misgendered them and had to be corrected online if their own girlfriend doesn’t know about it or take it seriously then what does that tell you?

Uzi and all them niggas that disrespected the older heads of the genre are lowkey panicking now that they’re not in their 20s anymore.
Nfs I think the only people from that era that didn’t do that were Carti and I think Kodak
See you say that, but most of his snippets/leaks/new s*** been cool. It at least feels like he's attempting to evolve, unlike Uzi. Carti def in a make or break situation rn but let's not act like he not clear of literally any other nigga in his class.
Every album and project he’s had thus far has had a different sound and look and that’s what his fans really care about, he seems good for the time being

To be fair though, the oldheads was hating on em first

Yea that is true but some of the criticisms were valid, most of that’s era didn’t capitalize on their potential imo
And it’s just funny cuz now you got s*** like Yachty doing s*** with Cole when the whole vibe was not caring about substance and lyrics

It wasn't really criticisms though. It was just the "mumble rap" s***. I still remember how Ebro s***ted on Uzi when he came on his radio show
