This is a dumb question. But is mixing for rap and metal/rock really different? I feel like I get a different type of sound/volume when listening to rock albums in my car vs these Uzi rock songs. The Uzi rock songs sound a bit more flat with the instruments to match with the traditional hip/hop production on the rest of the album.

If I'm completely wrong about what I'm hearing let me know lol.

    Absolutely

Every genre has different standards for the whole process

    • Vocals and instruments sit at different levels
    • Processing in some genres is light like jazz, processing in rock can be intense, rap/trap can be somewhere in between but as of late it has been more intense in terms of compression etc
    • Effects are used differently
    • Different targets for loudness

This album is Rage Trap btw so that has its own rules

Yeah I don't get the same knock as my favorite hard rock songs from these Rage Trap beats. They need to stop the compression for that genre lol

  • not rocking with this at all and i love uzi albums

Not really, the stadium/arena music feel is forced and makes the song corny imo

It doesn't sound forced at all imo, what makes it sound corny to you? explain instead of just using buzzwords please
