and is that a valid critique?I think generally it's a valid critique but I don't think that applies here. I think his energy, hooks (sometimes), and flow does a lot here even though the production is really good and it would be easy for it to carry a lot of his contemporaries.
I'd say production carries a lot of other rappers before I'd say it about Uzi

i would never say the productions carries any song considering how much effort uzi puts into layering, inflecting, singing, rapping, adlibbing, vocalizing, crooning, etc

it's actually remarkable how meticulously crafted the whole album is. it's like for every single second of every song, someone paused n asked "how does that sound? how can we make that sound better/more interesting?"
each song is a carefully crafted audio journey thought out from beginning to end. most of these rappers think abt the sound once and it's when they pick a beat.. i can't even listen to nobody else rn the difference in quality is crazy
