I do aswell, but it’s still not a classic. It is clearly not in the same league as the pillars of the genre. C2 could have never came out and nothing would be different. That was right before Wayne hit his streak and found his style. Fact is Wayne wasted his prime on just going in the booth and spitting over whatever and letting others make his projects for him
Fireman?
Feel Me?
Money on my mind?
Hustler Muzik?
Best Rapper Alive?
what you chatting about?
Was it Kanye that made people care more about albums as a piece of art over how good of a rapper one is when determining... well, how good of a rapper one is?
No lmao
yes. they used 50 vs Kanye to boost consumerism in rap
that moment changed everything in a bittersweet way. underrated
I can. Block is Hot, 500 Degreez, IANAHB2, C4, and Funeral are all better than Carter 3. Some are even better than Carter 2!!
Not a big fan of any of them except lights out, block is hot and maybe Funeral
But there’s a clear drop in quality compared to C2 & C3 imo. C1 I never really got tbh.
Clearly his mixtape run from the mid 00 to late 00 was peak. If you made a graph his def is shaped like a mountain. He got really good and then he got really bad
that moment changed everything in a bittersweet way. underrated
that and Wayne doing 1M definitely caused a MASSIVE shift especially since Em had stepped away
the way people talk about C3 it's like it doesn't have A Milli, Mr Carter, 3 Peat, Let The Beat Build, Dr Carter, Mrs Officer, Phone Home.. yeah they swapped some weaker records in for the leaked ones like La La/La La La but it's still top tier
this why people are able to listen to raspy crooning on HNVM and call that a classic album cause they like Drake’s voice when it’s just another greatly curated deep house album. been thinking about this point for years
So a greatly curated album is an album people say they like....

nigga found my comment on page 3 and chose to single out in a Wayne thread lmfao
b**** behavior
Run DMC
I'm not saying it was never like that or that good albums didn't matter because they always have and always will.
I do think that people that make the type of statements in the title no longer understand what makes a GOAT, a GOAT in hip hop.

Almost like I was..... reading the thread
And you randomly brought up Drake in a Wayne thread....
GASP!
I just realized rebirth came out a year after C3 holy s*** how disappointing that must’ve been

Sure I already made a post about how digging through the "mid" of Lil Wayne's discography was part of the fun back in '06-'09 cause the mid was often still fascinating.
But people saying a cleaner discography that might lean more toward quality over quantity and songcraft over just rapping ability is a "white rubric" is wild.
Nobody ever called Run or DMC the hardest lyricists but they were still the biggest group with some of the most cohesive albums of the 80s. Kanye didn't even come close to inventing that.
This only true if you exclude the mixtapes
Which for the younger generation they probably do..
