😂been a Wayne fan since I was dam near 8 years old but I know mid when I hear it.
There’s no energy in his delivery on long story short - when he rapped it as a freestyle it sounded better cuz it wasn’t in such a monotonous tone.
Plus on a beat as smooth as that, the bar should be set much higher for his performance.
His features on AZ’s “ritual” or the new Benny the butcher song prove he’s capable of a lot more than what he’s given on these 2 singles, and tha fix. Still excited for the album though
Hold on, you didn't like "Long Story Short"?
That song is dope, bruh.
Sounds like he’s half-asleep rapping on it with that slurred delivery and abuse of auto tune, I can’t see myself bumping it long term. With a beat as smooth as that, old Wayne would’ve gone crazy on that song. I don’t know why he’s rapping like the rents due on his features but sounds like a zombie on his solo tracks

So you’ve been listening to him since you were 8 but you don’t know about his laid back flow that he he has been using since 07/08, if not even before that, gotcha

There’s a vast difference between his laidback cadence on stuff like me n my drank, p**** money weed and this. This wasn’t even laidback, the end of his verse he’s rapping fast, but the delivery just sounded lazy and drenched in auto tune for no reason. Please try comparing the quality of this to his older stuff, I’d be curious what similarities you could draw

I like his laidback flow, he perfected it even on recent stuff like “ritual” by az. this song just wasn’t it

you dont like oprah & gayle?

this a hot take if i've seen one cuz Long Story Short def had some energy and cadence to it, it does not sound half assed
they are both (2chainz included) rapping with a very laid back demeanor cuz that's how they wanted to approach the beat, even Chainz sounds subdued
but I respect if you don't like it too much, I imagine u didn't like Presha either?
Big Diamonds gonna be crazy

only thing i really see in your point is the autotune. i agree not needed on this track but also didn't ruin the track at all
there will be plenty of moments on this album where he's going nuts. these two singles and rollout are telling me they took this serious and the album will be balanced. he doesn't need to go "crazy" on every track. this track was just a vibe that didn't require either of them to go cray. presha is more just a teaser track (prolly why used as first single). he will be spitting cray all over this. but im anticipating a balance of bunch of different sounds and vibes with both of them having their moments. this isn't just a meek mill rick ross spit bars every track. this is an actual album
5 skits tho its rlly 16
yea i looked at the tracklist and it’s more digestible the way they did it hopefully the skits aren’t on some brent faiyaz s***

u peeped the 50 cent intro? its on some narrator type skits. im not sure if it's 50 throughout or if they use different big names for each part

Just heard a snippet of it, sounding fire. Wayne don’t miss when he’s on track with Griselda

I don’t need him going “crazy” but the way he delivered his part on this song was underwhelming for me, especially compared to how he delivered it when he initially freestyled it.
Maybe it’s the auto tune and his voice that’s throwing me off. But i played this right after playing “Pray to the Lord” and the difference is out of this world. Obviously they’re 2 different types of songs and one was prime Wayne, but both beats have similar tempos, his flow on most of both those songs is slowed down, but the delivery on one is much stronger to me than on the other

Nah I didn’t like presha either. I love laidback Wayne, but listen to his delivery on something like p**** money weed versus long story short, there’s an obvious massive dip in quality (yes I know one of them is prime Wayne)
Even a song like harden off funeral, has a very similar beat to long story short but I feel like his performance there had a lot more soul in it
