That's basically the same thing. This is the first time Drake is taking a bulk of the lyrics to a reference. In the QM reference, he took some words but used his own lyrics mostly. It differs.

I don't think anyone doubts he could write to this using Yachty's flow but Yachty's bars were good enough and he used them.

A reference track doesn't tell you the magnitude of who wrote what either

It tells you that the person recorded a reference with flow and inflections in particular spots

Could be 100% one person or easily co-wrote

The fact we heard references track for Drake goes to show what that #1 position comes with. All the success comes with the scrutiny.

Do I think Q wrote stuff for Mac when they were in the studio together or the other way around of course but the main stream does not care about that.

Most of fhe rappers on control are lyricist tho of course they stay true to the rules. Which let me be clear them rules been re imagined multiple times over the years. Because in the beginning you couldn't even take hooks from writers. Now taking hooks is accepted. Even getting flows is accepted.

My point still stands this is Drake being machiavellian and breaking rules for the success.

He cannot be considered the greatest rapper when he has help. Beyoncé type help. Rihanna type help. The same reason why people clarify that Kanye a goat artist and not rapper is because he gets help.

The rules haven’t changed. I can go back to the 80s where rappers have had hooks written.

It’s never been acceptable to have verse written and then criticize your peers for laziness. Not one time
