Valid. We all know drake’s pen is amazing which is why it’s more baffling that he’s still doing this.

To me it seems like he could churn out the rappity-rap records all day - middle of the ocean, 8am in charlotte, away from home, even push ups - but it appears he’s using newer artists to help make the wavy, newer-sound banger tracks. Not a bad strategy to stay current tbh.

I just need to know he’s still cooking up all the proper rap songs. I have no doubt he is. I want to hear him explain his process fully around these kind of songs though.

You are right - given the longevity of his career, I don’t think it’s a big deal that he’s using songs from others sometimes. We know he can write. It’s weird that rap fans are obsessed with wanting rappers to write every single word they speak. As long as we know they have the ability and have proven themselves then it doesn’t matter. If you’re having people write your introspective or elite rapping songs then the conversation is different

He wasn’t close with yachty like that in 2018. Seems clear to me they linked in a working and friendship capacity prior to her loss.

It's probably a combination of him writing, recording, and getting ideas from others and some of those ideas he likes, and uses.

Like I said, it's simply not the 'thing' that people are making it out to be. He writes, records, gets ideas, and sometimes, he likes the idea. Sometimes he likes a verse and uses it, sometimes he likes a verse and a hook and uses it, idk...that doesn't seem crazy to me, it's literally the definition of cooking up.

This isn't some 'gotcha' moment where Drake is in the studio just copying reference tracks from every song that he's doing.
