The writer s*** will always confuse me because in the rap game there's not a single artist that comes close to Drake's output, if it was as easy as "lol bro get some writers" you'd have a lot of rappers coming close to Drake/surpassing him, but there's no one even close

Drake's output is multiples of even pop artists like Dua/Justin/Ariana who openly have whole teams of writers

Because he's an anomaly, he works, everything he touches is gold, he's a machine and so only someone unique like kendrick or Cole could do it that, they have an ear for melody too, if they had drakes ghosts, they'd be probably unrelenting with their outputs , it's not a fair to bring up outputs, cause of course yes

It's deeper though imo, a lot of artists have a top tier ear for melody and top vocals but there's not many artists that are seriously obsessed with music and that obsession is what separates Drake from everyone else. Kendrick/Cole don't have that obsession or even close to it. In fact in the whole music game (every genre) the only top artists that seem as obsessed that I can think of are Taylor Swift & maybe Ariana Grande

You can notice it even more by looking into his lyrics more, there's a lot of nerdy music s*** sprinkled everywhere, you can tell he's completely addicted

this is also why I don't believe the writers thing at all

Him being addicted as you put it is the reason why he uses a lot of collaborators. If you don't think niggas like Cole and Kendrick are not obsessed they are frequent with it, you are misguided. Obsession doesn't correlate with constant output only, Obsession means fixation over the small details, bringing in different producers, crafting album covers, drake doesn't even care for his album covers, it's whatever works or looks cool. Barring TOS look at Coles artwork, his album titles, Kendrick on a different tier, sequencing on damn was insane, the sounds soundscape of damn is underrated. I disagree with music knowledge, I'd argue he knows as much cause they both use their voices in interesting ways but to me , kendrick always had the singing voice as an advantage. And I guess we just see differently pertaining to obsession lol, semantics ig. To me, I recognize love in the albums kendrick made, even his last one felt deliberately off putting, as if there's no nicer way to put it like, I've always wanted that from drake, to give and give everything to just one LP, use all his money and pulll for something to stand the test of time. If we all agree and know unequivocally that he's one of the best writers of all time, one fo the greatest artists to ever live...do we really care that there's a reference track for Jumbotron, or Know Yourself???
