Also I don’t get the discourse around Drake ‘not writing’ his music when he writes half his songs?

He may not write all of them, but neither does any currently ‘top 10/5/3’ rapper lol

saw in the other thread that somebody was in denial that Yachty’s real name was Miles McCollum & was tryna argue he wasn’t credited as a writer

i hope the person was just drunk or something, but that would be a whole different issue we’d have to tackle with them in Life sxn

We might need iq tests before people can get on here

yea, it’s so messy that… checks notes that the guy credited for writing the song that sounds like he wrote it actually wrote the song

I genuinely believe Kendrick writes all of his songs. But the thing is, Kendrick has written for Keem, Q and Jay Rock. He can’t say s*** about rappers having ghostwriters/writers when he’s part of the problem.

lol it's not the same thing, he can write for others it doesn't take anything away from him, it takes away from the nigga he's writing for.

i just think the discourse is dumb, it’s not like this is a ghostwriting situation. it’s like the Yachty version of Act Up, we all knew he wrote it, why is anyone acting shocked lol

Kendrick fans when the guy who has writing credits on a Drake song recorded a reference track for that song:

The boy might write one for PND (Dont Run), one of Majid (Stars Align), one for Baka (Live Up To My Name), one for Beyonce (Heated), one for 21 (Her Loss) and then get some fresh ideas from Yachty. Thats the beauty of music

it's always a big deal when these reference tracks come out

You’d hate this track if Yachty dropped it. The reference is f***ing trash. Drake is who perfected it and thats why its your favorite song

I’m not saying it’s the same thing. I’m saying Kendrick dissing Drake because he has writers when his people use him as a writer would be hypocritical.

gonna just drop this in here before going back to sleep:

those Kendrick “reference tracks” that leaked for Baby Keem & Jay Rock songs were actually written by Baby Keem & Jay Rock for Kendrick, but he didn’t wind up using them on his albums so he let the original writers keep the songs for themselves because he’s a nice guy
