i think astrology hate is extremely corny and forced tbh
most people's perspective on it isn't even how it is too. it's not categorising people into 12 groups/archetypes
there is a certain level of self reflection that would be required if someone was to read their own birth chart and i believe despite being "real" or not, there is utility in that
most people into astrology are just following trends and doing it for the aesthetic and fuelling their delusions, not practicing it in the way it was meant to be practiced lol
believing it is whatever, but making it your entire personality and trying to use it to justify delusional and toxic behavior isn’t :) and I would say the vast majority fall under this category
I hope y’all are donating to keep Wikipedia up. It’s gonna be a sad day when they go down…
the term pseudoscience has been coined by scientists that do not want their truths to be demolished

i agree that pop astrology is doing more harm than good (omg you're acting like such an aries!!) but to right off astrology as an entire system just because you only understand it in it's simplest, most palatable form is dumb

yeah it’s super low hanging fruit to s*** on astrology, not only is the modern day mainstream version completely different from how it initially was in antiquity (like newspaper horoscopes were never a part of astrology before, lol) it’s also an extremely complex system that goes beyond sun signs, there’s houses for each planets of each sign, these planets have energies that influence one another, there’s different connections between the planets that even have names for them such as quincuxes, conjunctions, etc. like it’s a whole lot of s*** lol—i don’t necessarily believe in it but it’s interesting to say the least imho
and even segueing away from that, i have no clue why it’s even classed as a science at all, it’s a metaphysical system, something that is metaphysical by definition isn’t going to have any grounding in science

people make a big deal out of astrology not passing the scientific method but it doesn't need to. unlike science, it isn't about proving/disproving anything and that's probably why it's categorised as a pseudoscience.
if over thousands of years we developed a system to understand how we interact with our natural world and what that means for potential, past, future, trauma, careers that alone should prove you don't need science to verify it's utility. and yeah, like you said, it goes deeper than horoscopes in the newspaper - there is definitely a lot of nuance when it comes to understand how/why astrology "works"
but also, i don't necessarily subscribe to the idea of "if the moon controls the tides and we're 80% water how could it not control us?" thing

astrology supporter uses right instead of write

Bruh who here smart af im so confused
Bruh I don't know what it means to "preserve topological structure" topology is wizardry
So this is basically a clustering algorithm where you have a set of nodes spanning a low dimensional space constructed by taking some variables and mapping them to this low dimensional space (however tf u do that) then you see which node in the low dimensional space is closest to the input and shift it slightly towards where the input was mapped in the low dimensional space
This might work
Subliminal advertising
Memetics
Strauss-Howe generational theory
Electromagnetic hypersensitivity
Extra sensory perception
Quantum mind
Numerology
Are the ones I personally believe are true but difficult to measure in the framework of scientific research for many reasons (evidence, technology, ethics, time/resources required). I wish that article was organized in a better way for example group things based on what has been clearly debunked, what needs more evidence and what just can't be proven via scientific method altogether. It's kind of interesting how much social media content is really just pseudoscience. I think a lot of it's appeal is that pseudoscience has its roots in how the human brain processes the universe in a "logical" way but that doesn't mean that the universe conforms to human logic. To me, that's why I love science, because it's forcing us to look at the world around us beyond our basic instincts and biases and discover something that is consistently true regardless of your viewpoint. Anyway.

I need to read the entry on Subliminal advertising
I could see arguments either side — not as a science but as something people try to perfect
