you the man i need in this thread your music knowledge is insane. thanks bruh
THIS RECORD right here is a revelation in terms of like what the iron curtain sounded like. And the fact he does it on Hammond B3 Organ, it's so ethereal. And it's like a student becoming a master.
But even his student record's are like "Whoa, this man keeps level'n"
Amazing voice, amazing musician. You can tell by looking at the cover, he isn't to be effed with.
Drunk is the precious record by him. It’s just as good
Def try hiatus kaiyote
Very experimental R&B/Jazz
Also if u want a super old chill classic
Try Bossa Nova classic “Waves”

Anything this woman does @bluenote 6 ft goat improviser with the hands and voice of God.
One of the best thing's i could EVER suggest to you is this publication called "Songlines" which basically covers the entire globe of music running the genres A-Z. @bluenote
What's great about subscribing, you have every single issue ever published. And you can pull up issues.
There are hundred of names just in one and the review list is so intense of everything. The critics on there are tough. The list of labels alone is insane.
Best money i ever spent on music magazine subscription and you learn so much about the entire world in one issue
I often wonder how they do it.
I FW ur herbie hancock background

No One Can Do It Better is underrated
this is rodney allen
the year is 1987 and he was only 17yo
the manager from this local label found him some year before while going to a pub where rodney did a live set and signed him right away
the rest isn’t history - it never took off, all that happened was one and only one solo record named happysad in which happened within one session or two where the young rodney recorded everything himself
it was limited printing being a local independent label release, so the album is very rare
it got took off or got any fame, the album is still not reissued to this day, there’s no really happy ending
well some sort of it - last year he finally came back to do some shows and play some of these songs, but it was small clubs that gathered at most what 50 people? i don’t even know it it were clubs, prolly in backstage of a pub or something
after his happysad album, he joined some band as a guitarist which got more commercial traffic but that didn’t last - he has been since driving trucks and still to this day
it’s a shame but is telling of many forgotten talented musician stories we will never hear their beautiful songs
the recording quality sucks buts it’s a vinyl rip - remember the album only got one issued on vinyl and that was it
it’s one of my favorite personal records of mine that no one know of, but it’s time for ppl to hear this diamond
