it’s not even some internet cult, there’s only two people on youtube who had uploaded songs from his album and some of these uploads are ten years old or something, the best of them all gathered in total about 5k views

this isn’t some artist or album tht has a following that i found on 4chan or something

it’s prolly the most old obscure music youll hear

    this is rodney allen

the year is 1987 and he was only 17yo

the manager from this local label found him some year before while going to a pub where rodney did a live set and signed him right away

the rest isn’t history - it never took off, all that happened was one and only one solo record named happysad in which happened within one session or two where the young rodney recorded everything himself

it was limited printing being a local independent label release, so the album is very rare

it got took off or got any fame, the album is still not reissued to this day, there’s no really happy ending

well some sort of it - last year he finally came back to do some shows and play some of these songs, but it was small clubs that gathered at most what 50 people? i don’t even know it it were clubs, prolly in backstage of a pub or something

after his happysad album, he joined some band as a guitarist which got more commercial traffic but that didn’t last - he has been since driving trucks and still to this day

it’s a shame but is telling of many forgotten talented musician stories we will never hear their beautiful songs

the recording quality sucks buts it’s a vinyl rip - remember the album only got one issued on vinyl and that was it

it’s one of my favorite personal records of mine that no one know of, but it’s time for ppl to hear this diamond

For real... There's something really sad about that, unexplored or unexpressed potential

Thankfully you've put me on this, Will It Rains Tomrrow is a really great song

This one, the man’s range is crazy. Song is about reaching a higher frequency of energy in your life, 😎

    @bluenote

Done on a dx7 keyboard in a power trio of electric bass and drums,

He played with jaco, sting, Gil evans, pat martino, (me naming these 4 you should understand how amazing this guy is )passed away recently. But he put out this trio independently in 83/84

The og record is pretty rare, but this is the compilation from that record. I’m not sure why the track list is mixed around? Maybe because the rights are complicated. 😒

You can get it anywhere streaming, just type in bushrock & maybe the title wide receiver. What a goat, when he hits that “yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ooooooo” That’s leveling super saiyan. So amazing and underrated. 😭😭😭😭😭
