    Hey Mama

I always find myself getting emotional when he sings "You know I love you so and, I'll never let you go. Wrote this song just so you know no matter where you go, my love is true" s*** brings a tear to my eye

S/o to the OG Ye fans who played Hey Mama to their mom on the drive when they were moving into college

no matter how much of a dumbass he is now i will always cherish his 2004-2016 run

    This.

He had some glimmer with KSG and Donda but, overall, that is prime Kanye right there.

some of them don’t even like TLOP on here idk what happened

    Tbh, TLOP was always polarizing.

In fact, it was hated more in 2016-2018 than the 2020's. It's gotten more praise and love over time but it still was an album that sparked major debates.

It used to get critiqued for being his least cohesive album and having filler songs but you had others who ranked it high due to quality/classic tracks on it, the tour/merch, and how much longevity the album had compared to his other 2010's albums not named MBDTF.

Personally, I don't think TLOP is on the level of his 2000's albums and def not MBDTF. But it's still acclaimed, has classic tracks on it that still get played today, and has very solid verses and emotional tracks on it.

So, I don't mind when people consider it prime Ye or one of his best even though it's clearly a drop from his 04-13 run barring Cruel Summer imho.

    Big Nas fan here
But I’m confused what’s the string of perfect albums that makes him Ye level? Illmatic and then what? He’s made dope records since but no real discernible run that matches Ye 04-16

Ye has higher highs for sure but Nas has been more consistent for a long period of time including today.

Nas has damn near 20 projects and his only misses were Nastradamus and Nasir. Some people dislike SD too but I wouldn't really call it a miss. But, even if we include it, that's 3 misses out of close to 20 projects.

My top 3 from Ye is always
    MBDTF
    LR
    808’s

But I always come back to LR. Too many memories attached to the album and Jon Brion and Ye just created magic production wise

  • I love how in 2024 I'm seeing more and more love for LR. Even just 4 or 5 years back I couldn't believe some of the LR slander. LR will always be my favorite ye album.

Im an OG fan and I do like TLOP, obviously not top 5 for me.

I think TLOP as well as obviously Yeezus helped him gain new gen fans and they could now witness an era with everything that came with it so for them and obviously ye it transcends his longevity. It's an important album in that aspect. He's in his 40s still pushing out hits competing when other people he started with are irrelevant but legends nonetheless
