Lol I hear you. I haven't read dune, but it's on the shelf. Will get to it one day. Still onto Blood Meridian, then Catch 22, then Dune
I started catch-22 a few years back, but dropped it. I need to check it out again.
That is when I was getting into reading for the first time really ever. Was hitting a lot of classics.
Gideon the Ninth is a really fun fantasy/gothic horror with a great comedic tone that I highly recommend.
Also, for anyone interested in crime fiction, I highly recommend Every Dead Thing by John Connelly, really good read and incredibly dark.
About to start Hard to Be a God by by the Strugatskys (who also wrote Roadside Picnic which when on to become Stalker).

Finally got around to reading that last year. It’s easily one of the funniest books I’ve ever read and hasn’t aged a day. It’s honestly pretty shocking just how well the humor in it has aged, highly recommend it if you’re a fan of Monty Python and Mel Brooks.
I want to read more books going into 2020. Anyone have any recommendations?

Funny thing about The Long Walk was that it was a really big influence on the movie Battle Royale, which would of course inspire The Hunger Games and later PUBG and Fortnite, so, in a way, Stephen King’s influence extends even to that.
Did anyone read any of Stephen King here? I want to hear opinions on his stuff

It's like a fantasy Western he started when he started writing and kept adding to throughout his career, it's a good story and intertwines with some of his other work
