    Idk if it's for beginners, probably some background in politics/Asian history would be useful, but this post made me think of "The Art of Not Being Governed" by James C Scott, which I thought was actually really interesting even though it's an academic work so

    Cold reading isn't Psuedoscience lol, it's a technique even used by law enforcement of the highest order.

    He was looking for manipulative resources so I passed em along.

    Thanks for replying... types meaning, gov'ts like Germany back in the 30s to 40s, african gov'ts, Mussolini regime, a general worldview of what civilians had to go against or comply to

    Haven't read many about African times, but King Leopold's is a good one.

    Would recommend station eleven by Emily Mandel for anyone just tryna get into reading
    Or the 'i am number four' series but that's probably too teeny for some
    Personal fav is the freedom writers. Forgot the author but I watched the movie and read the book countless times
    That and the IA#4 series got me into reading when I was 12~ and they changed my life. Glad there's a place to talk about books

    Reading Rules of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis right now. Thereā€™s something about his writing style that makes me love it now but wonder if I wonā€™t relate to it as I grow older. Oh well, gonna read Glamorama, American Psycho, and Less Than Zero as well lol
