funny how the first time america has risen up as a country in decades is also right during a global pandemic where ppl have no jobs/school
its almost as if a 40 hour work week is designed specifically so we cannot do this
Never even thought about this
Now watch them open the country up ASAP and get everyone back to work with quickness
They wouldn’t want anything like this happening ever again
Here we go
They are scared.
Tbh, it’s very scary as a precedent and should not be happening, but it really doesn’t seem as malicious as it sounds. They aren’t actually holding people “indefinitely”, they are just holding them a little longer than normal because the arraignment process has changed due to covid. It’s a failure of the justice system, but not really the power grab that it’s being presented as.
This is in the same district where they aren’t even going to prosecute many of the protestors who were arrested.

I keep saying white ppl was just bored at the crib and was like I guess we’ll help black ppl. Anything to get out the house
A New York State Supreme Court judge on Thursday rejected a petition seeking the immediate release of hundreds of protesters who had been held by the New York Police Department for more than 24 hours, ruling that extraordinary circumstances justify indefinite detention.
Using a "crisis" to justify the suspension of civil liberties is usually what the US accuses other countries of doing right before they're about to invade them.
It's time to invade the US and bring democracy there
Im glad gaming companies putting niggas in shambles by shouting out BLM lmao. Gamers are such pieces of s***.
These comments man.
Ironically emough, the comments probably full of teenagers that TKed me for having a n* avatar (My name is Unamused Kanye and I use a pic of a very Unamused Kanye)
Rockstar Online games are garbage anyway, I think the lonely white kids will survive not playing their buggy ass game full of hackers for a day.
Cops really be hitting us with this Chuck E. Cheese ass dance party bullshit in the daylight hours, then start beating mfs ass when the sun goes down. Don’t fall for the bait-and-switch.
New York's police department and political leaders have really shown their asses throughout this entire things. Your mayor will barely condemn what the police has been doing on the daily.

NYPD has so much power that’s it pretty much turned every politician from there besides AOC into a shameless boot licker.
Well it's not Nordic levels of white
, but def a lot more white than the US. But if you live in the relatively bigger cities it's not that bad.
This country is racist as f***, but it's a different type of racism than American racism, due to the differences in the country's history.
The US colonized Africans domestically by taking them away from Africa, the Netherlands was different, they did most of their colonialism outside of their own borders. The Netherlands barely had any black people until 1975, when Suriname gained independence and a lot of them immigrated to the Netherlands.
I would say that the biggest differences between racism in the US and in the Netherlands is that in the US there is relatively more systemic racism codified in law, in the Netherlands a lot more of the racism that black people experience comes from the fact that racist attitudes are completely left unchecked because racism isn't really talked about as much as in the US. Like white people think you're a weirdo if you talk about racism, they might even say "oh come on this isn't America, racism isn't an issue here"
In the US, even racists think that racism is a topic that's important to discuss, even if it's only to deny the fact that it exists, it's still a topic worth discussing, but in the Netherlands there's much more of just a complete apathy surrounding the topic.
Tldr: racism in the US is a relatively more active thing and institutionalized, whereas in the Netherlands it's more so about exclusion and attitudinal racism and apathy towards race issues are bigger issues.
Thanks for the rundown. I don't see how anything's gonna change if you can't even talk about it.
There are actually lots of people here who think that we shouldn't talk about racism and they become extremely triggered by the thought of it, but they have no choice because race is too embedded within our society. Race is gonna be talked about whether they like it or not
CNN finally reporting heavily on the police's overuse of force on protesters and other civilians. Less focus on fake ass solidarity with cops.

Oh yeah the "racism exists bc we still talk about" crowd
But like you said they can't really escape it tho

I really like what protesters in Charlotte did last night, we had a team of guys on bikes who would run ahead and block off intersections so that cops couldn't separate protesters.
Often times the police will try to split up the protest so that they can take on smaller groups.
