Andre 3000 saying rap is a young man's genre is so foolish
one's own feelings is not law
one's own feelings is not law
"One's own feelings"
Buddy only pops up to say s*** like that in interviews to promote his flute album.

well...it's 3K. he doesn't "pop up" for anything but his work lol
basically i'm saying who tf cares what he said for it to be brought up as often as it is. it's just his view.

When the only way to promote your work is to s*** on rap
Saturday Night Special is the only one I've had time to appreciate on its own. Lead singles are like that.

i was tryna get away from it, but i really didn't remember it that way and had to dig up the quotes again for myself
I ain’t got no raps like that. It actually feels…sometimes it feels inauthentic for me to rap because I don’t have anything to talk about in that way. I’m 48 years old. And not to say that age is a thing that dictates what you rap about, but in a way it does. And things that happen in my life, like, what are you talking about? ‘I got to go get a colonoscopy.’ What are you rapping about? ‘My eyesight is going bad.’ You can find cool ways to say it, but….”
idk, this one seems like he's mostly s***ting on himself, no?? lol
“I’ve heard some rappers reply to what I’ve said about age, and I have to ask, ‘What are you rapping about?’” he says, referring to rappers of a certain vintage who took issue with his previous statements about having nothing new to rap about. “Some are the best braggadocious rappers in the world, and we love them for that – but it’s so much easier to do that for the rest of your life. I don’t necessarily rap like that. Our formulas are different.”
this quote seems like he's s***ting on other rappers, not rap itself. which rappers do all the time. but idk! lol

Idk what you want me to say. He's wrong, incurious, and anything he wants to say in an interview can be rapped. Any experience or feeling can be rapped. This was said during his friend Killer Mike's Grammy winning album cycle.
Implicating the genre and the generation because he's washed. What's he communicating with his extremely crude flute playing?

i want you to say whatever you wanna say, we just shootin the s***. incurious (in your words) seems like the most accurate description of the quotes to me.
people move on from things every day. i guess that's where i'll leave mine

Doesn't it just seem a bit dishonest to say that stuff in this climate? What are the youth talking about? The people saying the most are 35+ now. It's lame to see a legend so dismissive. He looks dumb

and those are feelings i won't invalidate. i can see that side of things too.
we as people don't always get it right. we only have those two short blurbs from written pieces to try and understand his sentiment. maybe he got across exactly what he wanted, or maybe he could've used some more room to express what he's feeling on the topic. personally, i'm just taking it as, he's grown tired of the rap s*** and found a new interest. and that's cool.

His wise monk image falls apart if he can't even recognize his little flute hobby was made possible by rap music. Rappers turn their back on this s*** like clockwork lol. He's not the only one

that's funny because i think i'm the one looking at him like a regular human in this case, while other folks (not you) put him on this pedestal like he can't just make a regular everyday decision. i been working my job for half the time and i BEEN wanted to quit, hahaha.
he gave rap a decade and a half, man is one of the genre's most celebrated. i'm sure he has the utmost love and respect for it and what its afforded him to be able to do, like his "little flute hobby." that's the thing about quick thoughts in interviews, s*** can get murky so quick. we see it all the time.

If he was a regular person nobody would know "one's own feelings". And nobody made him do an interview. This guy hasn't had a real job ever lol. If you tried to shake his hand in an airport he'd prob pull his hat low
