NFR was great, everything else just sounds like he’s trying to recapture that sound for other artists and it just comes off bland. Very one dimensional producer
People are requesting the NFR sound for their projects
The new bleachers s*** sounds nothing like NFR and he’s done stuff previously thats a lot different. Even the St Vincent project was a change of pace from that sound

Oh don't get me wrong as much as I love the production on Pure Heroine, Joel has not done anything good since.
I remember pre-Melodrama, I fantasized about what Lorde x Arca would sound like but I'm kind of over that either.
I think she'd do good with a Justin Raisen-type. He did stuff for Sky Ferreira, Joji, and the last two Yves Tumor records. Versatile enough I feel to accommodate.
Oh your view on this is pretty interesting. Imo it's about heartbreak but not in a conventional way more about losing the flame they had for each other. The line 'but the sun has to rise' marks the breaking point for me as she comes back from the realm of memories and has to settle for the kind of "platonic" lifestyle she's now sharing with her boyfriend/husband which is obviously bothering her hence the 'I'm still crazy for you, babe' a line meant to be a as a sort of a wake up call for him imo
damn i do like your interpretation. that makes it way more heavy than how i took it. not heartbreak, but just the inevitable course of life. things settle down and she's finding comfort in accepting that.
both interpretations may ring true
I still fail to understand how the guy who produced all of Pure Heroine made songs like "Me!" off that one Taylor Swift album.
Such a fall off lmao

Kanye should fully produce her next album like he did Teyana if we're being honest

Nooo Kanye has never really been a pop centric producer
Read The Guardian interview where she's talking about "the sexy models on Instagram who made me feel inferior" as if someone was specifically targeting her.
I'm not saying that out of nothing lmao she's clearly positioning herself in this sort of sense and I wouldn't even mention that point if she hadn't echoed what I thought in the interview.
S*** sounds so spiteful but she's only 24
"the sexy models on Instagram who made me feel inferior"
i feel like this is a normal thought of women in their 20s no? she has insecurities like everyone else seems to be the point but i'd have to reread that excerpt of the interview to fully put it into context.

It was obviously a joke but it would be intringuing to see how Kanye would handle producing a pop album

How was that obviously a joke
his production on the teyanna album is actually good
Even Pitchfork not messing with this lol
6.8 rating for the album incoming

"Feels stuck in a pretty pedicured bubble" is a hell of a way to describe the way I'm feeling about this song tbh

Hahaha yeah it was I didn't mean it that way

The actual review encapsulates a lot of the issues I had with the song surprisingly.
Especially the part about how she kinda failed to make a profound statement about any of the topics the song tried to cover.

It's a pretty well written review if we're being honest, it hits the nail on every of the issues the song has the fake deep patina being actually one of them even though expecting a 24 year old to fully unfold complex emotions seems a little bit too complex
I mean antonoff makes pop music but I think he can do a bunch of different stuff. Taylor swift songs like Dress, Call it what you want, cruel summer, cornelia street sound pretty different from NFR which has a way different sound to melodrama which is different from St Vincent. The new Clairo album def sounds like his lana stuff and so does this single but its unfair to call him one dimensional. His trademark a few years ago was bright synth pop and now y'all say he only makes lowkey lana style music
She and Billie are gonna make me wait for the whole albums cause I haven't liked a single song yet.
