It's funny because lies of p is better than this game in almost every single metric, but for some reason I'm more engrossed in this even with all the bullshit. Probably only because Lies is pretty linear and this isn't

I quit at the Congregator of Flesh. More power to anyone who enjoys it enough to get through all the bullshit
Game is f***ing fire imo at least aesthetically speaking they have nailed it. Didn't go in expecting Fromsoft polish, so perhaps not as annoyed at shortcomings as I could be.
Feel like it has a Demon Souls kinda vibe where the world is harder than the bosses.
nah, this game is still gonna be mid af, there's just a decent marketing push behind it that has people convinced otherwise. lies of p was an anomaly
nothing crazy but
7/10 good soulslike fun
i loved Lies of P way way more tho and gave it a 9/10 that was my 2023 GOTY tbh but this game isnt bad
This might be one of my fav Souls-like, after the Nioh series
I played the og release of the reboot and disliked it (and I hate the original way back from 2014 that was based off of vikings and Scotland or whatever that was very World of Warcraft gaudy and generic), tried the 2.0 and like it a lot
It is amazing what a dedicated jump button addition and better enemy placement reworkings can do for a game
Those are the major changes, but there are a bunch of other little changes all over the place
If this is how it was when it released it would be praised so high - and the story/chars/lore are actually interesting which most, if not all, souls-like miss
It feels like an alt timeline of Dark Souls 1
Some of the biting is a little too egregious but that's ok lmao
My only complaint is that I wish the weapons had more flair to them that would add diversity. Again, another thing like all Souls-like miss. FromSoft mid to late tier weapons even since Demons/Dark Souls 1 are dope and have special effects and abilities such as Quelaggs Blade. Which increased a lot in DS2, then they really went crazy even since BB/DS3. Now almost every weapon is really unique with Elden Ring either in moveset, or a special power/ability just to it.
I've done two of the 4 or 5 major beacons in LOTF and so far the only real difference is that some weapons have diff innate elemental buff damage, that's it, even boss weapons.
The magic and innate power stancing is really cool, and good, tho.
Also I love how they took the best gameplay aspects from the FS SoulsVerse.
The calculated dodging n sidestep from Bloodborne, the posture breaking from Sekiro, the unique power stancing from Dark Souls 2 and the melee combos from Elden Ring.
They even have the leftover mechanic that FS cut out from DS3 of being able to make your own bonfire with an item - which works so well in LOTF and very strategic.
Oh and the level design n exploration is genuinely great
Probably the best level design in all of Soul-likes, really great stuff that is the most important to me personally after the combat
High tier

Only thing it needs is better bosses
Only thing it needs is better bosses
I like most the bosses although they're easy for the most part
I have a way harder time with the bigger reg enemies than 95 percent of the bosses so far lmao
Only boss I had a tough time was Pieta which was the inverse, she was was like unfair difficult, but that was before the 2.0 patch
I quitted the og release a lil into the swamp area but I'm having a great time now, continuing since then
