Writing a paper on growing up as an immigrant in the United States. I'm one myself but I'd love to know what y'all went through when you moved here.
What values did your parents instill in you?
What was the toughest aspect about being an immigrant?
Did you have any pressure from your parents or society as a whole? Did this affect your mental health?

Lmao chilll I say nigga cuz it got stuck to me growing up lmao. I was deadass the only Mexican in my area and In NY is bad to be Mexican apparently lmaoo like everybody talk s***. But these the people I grew up with seen and have gone through the same struggles. Like deadass if I were in an only Mexican area where we all Mexican I probably wouldn’t say it. But yeah I don’t say it cuz I want to I just say it 💀💀

its all good bro, i gotchu lol where im from all the latinos say it here. so i get it.

From my point of view being an immigrant is like taking a big gamble but you’re betting on yourself and an outcome with no safety net or guarantees. So you get here with a language barrier and most people ready to take advantage of your situation. Underpay your labor, give you unfair conditions and give themselves the luxury of breaking your spirit. They do it because they’re aware it will likely mean exploitation with no repercussions because an immigrant will have to suck it up for several reasons, lack of knowledge, resources, someone to guide you. But the journey of an immigrant has many rewards, going through a lot of bad s*** builds you up with a lot of knowledge of people’s character and their true intentions so it reflects on yourself with values you can’t fake or adopt overnight.

Cuz I know there is areas where Hispanics and Blacks have beef, in those areas it’s a no for me. But yeah it differs person to person, city to city

out near Sacramento and San Francisco. Nah lol still a bunch of white people where im from but a decent amount of hispanics. i wouldn't say latinos and blacks beef like that here either

My parents are from Mexico, I was lucky that in southern California there is a big presence of people just like my parents so there is solidarity in the communities and we can relate to other families like mine, friends at school etc. California I consider to be practically Mexico at this point but the 80s and 90s were where a culture shift was happening at a new pace and I hope for the better of the new generation of immigrants I hope they don’t have to go through abuse and mistreatment the last generations had to face. We also have a lot of Asians out here and I can relate to them and their stories coming of age and respecting our parents a lot for their struggle so we look after our parents like other cultures might not.

We lack luxury that others don’t. Me and a citizen can commit the same crime and we would have more problems dealing with deportation.We need welfare, we can’t get welfare. We need section 80, we can’t get section 80. We need Food Stamps, we can’t get food stamps. Medicaid? Some states help you other don’t, unless your kid is born here you f***ed.

But blacks go through hardship too. Asians, Indians, Trinidad/Jamaicans. Arabs... we the bottom of the barrel, we need to build ourselves up together, but they set us up against each other, plus our backgrounds don’t help either when they have bad apples and bad cultural stereotypes
