then-DJ/promoter bloodzboi (today successful rapper in his own right) brought him over to China for his first international gig, I got the full story in an interview with him last year

beflygelt: I was very surprised to see a while ago that you brought Lucki to China in 2015. What's the story there?

Bloodz Boi: Now Lucki is super big, but at that time, he was very underground. One of my friends in Beijing had a connection and he asked about inviting Lucki to China. And I know if I brought him, I would maybe lose money - we definitely lost money because the people didn't know who Lucki is. But I really wanted to see the reaction of people and I plan it and think, even if I lose money, I will not lose a lot, maybe one, two thousand, not much money.

So I tell him let's do it. We just asked Lucki's manager, who was his friend called Joe. Now he's very famous in fashion as a designer, Joe Freshgoods. So we brought them both to China. It was the first time Lucki took an international flight. We just flew them out. We spent a lot to fly them out from Chicago, but that was the only money it cost. They didn't take a fee for performing.

We just wanted to have some fun. We covered everything, hotel, flight, some d****. Just anything. I think I chose the right guy. I always have a really good eye on talent. If some record company wanted to invite me to be their A&R, I think I would be a good one. I'm very proud of Lucki doing so well after that. He's kept in touch with me since. A special one in rap history laughs.
