And how is he solving that?
By forcing people to lose weight in order to wear his clothes

And how is that working out for him?

Does this move units off the shelves for Lululemon?
Inspiration doesn't pay the bills
Having a niche is important because if you try to cater to everyone your overall marketing and message won't speak to anyone. Your niche can also be linked to who your ideal client is. So, it's important you have a targeted niche market and speak to a customer or client in a certain way which they can really relate to.
Basic s*** to succeed in business lmao
This definitely doesn’t apply to all businesses or to a successful business. As a business owner, we market to every potential client because money don’t see color. That’s a fast way to minimize your potential profits or how far your business can reach. We welcome everyone and it’s succeeded greatly for decades now

It depends yeah. Someone like Apple wants to be seen as luxury/ high end and thats why they dont offer low cost variations of their macbooks eventhough they could. They create a certain type of elite-ism and thats why theyre the biggest tech company

A competent business adjusts to its consumer base
Louis Vuitton wasn't conceived with skateboarders and rappers in mind, but adapted to the times because the demand from that demographic for their products was there. They didn't gatekeep "who was allowed" to wear Louis Vuitton because, bigotry aside, it's bad for business.
If Chip didn't have his head lodged up his ass, he would adapt his marketing strategy for Lululemon to at least not actively s*** on a large portion of his consumer base because of his personal feelings. So, rather than making money and "solving problems" for Lululemon, whose only problem is to figure out how to return a profit to shareholders, he's creating a bunch because he's a dumb boomer.
I think most of us would feel this way if we had a brand lol
Hell no..I would want as many suckers buying my s*** as possible.
If lululemon only targeted the fit healthy consumers then that's a very small portion of American population. They need the fatties to be buying there s*** to maximise profits.

Nope
good for him to stand ten toes on that. ya'll took a trip to victoriassecret.com recently?
if you make an athletic clothing brand you shouldn't be forced to make XXXL sizes for inclusivity sake
You shouldn’t be forced to but it’s probably a good idea to do so because fat people can start or be in the middle of a fitness journey and need some workout gear too

Nah I get what youre saying. I dont think lululemon would lose anything by making clothes for bigger people. In terms of luxury brands, I do understand it can cheapen a brand, which can cause a loss of customers in order to appeal to a new audience though

I don't understand why anyone would think it's a good, lucrative, consistently profitable idea, to exclude overweight people from fitness wear in the second fattest country on the planet, that also happens to be the richest country in history.
It's a lot of fat people in America who want to, and need to, wear clothes. Way more of them than fit people.
Furthermore, you create a stronger consumer base for recurring purchases if you target people who need the product you're selling the most, and are able to purchase it. This is basic supply and demand lol. Fit people got the gear they need. Overweight folks probably don't. That's where the money is.
Chip is a dumbass

Again, if he was smart, he could make an offshoot "plus size" line that isn't directly associated with Lululemon but gets the clout from the association. Alexander Wang didn't tank when he linked up with H&M lol, nor did Kenzo. Dude is just an incompetent and out of touch old guy who can't get with the times.
Nope
Lululemon has been growing and expanding year on year... Dude not been at the helm now for 10 year. Their marketing is doing great.
Nope
Bro literally thinks that it's good for a company if people don't buy their products
You shouldn’t be forced to but it’s probably a good idea to do so because fat people can start or be in the middle of a fitness journey and need some workout gear too
It's not a company's responsibility, role, or right, to dictate the social climate of the general public. If "body positivity" is in, then it's the job of the firm to market to that consumer base if they want to maximize profit, which is their only concern. This doesn't apply to industries that have nothing to do with "bodies", i.e. the iron industry or something, but for clothing, it very much does.
The idea that, because of your personal feelings, you would actively exclude a gigantic portion (no pun intended) of American consumers who are way more likely to spend their money on fitness gear than someone who is already fit, is just fundamentally retarted according to the most basic tenets of capitalism. I'm saying this not just from a theoretical perspective, but as someone who works in the industry as well and got a degree in marketing lol.
Anyone defending dude's position here is just trying to find a way to bash overweight people for giving Chip money lol. It's the most retarted s*** and shows just how egotistical and stupid some folks are lol

#NOFATCHICKS
It's so weird when CEOs say stuff like this but when you go on the store's website or inside the store themselves, you'll see Black, Asian, Latina, etc models in the clothing lol
yall still use twitter and elon is a racist
Elon's killing the value of the company himself
I'm sure someone has mentioned it, but "Lululemon" is named that because this c***thought it was funny to hear Japanese people pronounce it.. so are we really surprised here?
