i think they used to be close. always saw her in his insta comments before she passed
RIP
i think this might be the first lupe album where the production outshined lupe.. soundtrakk earned his flowers on this one.
i didnt listen to a word lupe said on til eternity because the beat was so good
and No. 1 Headband is the best Lupe song ive heard in a very long time. the drum switches by soundtrakk were brilliant
great album
"he lost his name now signs with a x
i just wanna commit crimes in tibet
turn n say something divine and then climb in a jet
contrived but correct, besides n direct
during no's i tell lies to the left
and meditate on the upsides of a yes
p.s. i destroyed everything u tried to protect"
soundtrakk lost his mind on no. 1 headband
I can’t get over this beat.. the drum switches and how Lupe rides them are so good
I didn’t know who KushBaby was before tonight, but her drums on this album were unbelievable
why do male rap artist do hooks themselves when they have worked with some of the greatest women hook singers of all time. Ye, Lupe do this or work with random people. I am guessing it has something to do with when you are indie or a lot of negotiations to get women to sing hooks recently
S*** I hope there is some reason for the stupidity
Because Eminem and Skylar Grey.
J/k
But it's a generic pop rap formula.

What’s your interpretation of this verse? Who’s perspective is he speaking from?

artists in general but he def talking about his own experiences.
in one of the interviews he said
"The overall themes of the album speak to the constant fight and the battle one goes through being in the industry. Some of the things we need to defend.”

I definitely can see that and it’s part of the themes of the whole album
But the “commit crimes in Tibet, destroy everything you tried to protect” and some other stuff in that verse made me think he was speaking on a politician of some kind.

Real for pointing out those drum switches. Really creative production there. Something you don’t hear often

i think he's talking about duality and being a contradiction.
"i love the peace and i love the war"
“From which they say he lazily blew/blue horns
Like Lapis Lazuli on a cow skull
But when things got stunning, he hit the ground running like out soles
Now how about those Outros?”

Too good at this rap s*** lol
First things that stand out are it’s completely devoid of the religious undertones of the last 3 albums and there’s no Mural-style barfest. Til Eternity is close, but not quite. There’s little in the way of high concept only Lupe could do this standalone songs, because it’s like stretching Jonylah or Alan Forever across 8 songs. The usual meditations on duality and resurrection are still there if you want to go digging, but takes a backseat to the layered production and using his voice as an instrument, probably to mimic.the feel of a jazz singer like Amy. He’s dancing on or around these beats and literally scatting at the start of No. 1 Headband. There’s several verses where he’s on the verge of falling offbeat, but he catches himself before he actually does. Then, there’s other parts where he’s so undeniably in the pocket, flipping back and forth between these two modes. With the partial exception of one duet, this is the first time he’s done all the hooks himself and I guess this album lives or dies based on how much you enjoy Lupe’s singing. Speaking of outros, both Soundtrakk albums loop beautifully back to their respective intros, especially this one.
What happened to that old thread which had quotes of rappers praising Lu? Glad that we can still keep it going. He really is TBE.
TIL Eternity might be my favorite outro on a Lupe album. At least since Tron
its so good, the last verse was beautiful

Can't get it out of my head. Definitely agree on that last verse.
