Nah. Lupe is an incredible lyricist but he can’t consistently make cohesive songs/projects on Kendrick’s level.

I feel like Lupe and Kendrick are very different artistically. Only thing they have in common is that their conscious rappers.

Lupe was always a hipster,concious,peoples champ type of guy where he was artsy but still down to earth. Kendrick Lamar is just as much of a performance artist as he is a rapper,he isn't the most technical rapper but he loves deep concepts and using characters to tell stories in his music.

Yeah Lupe was the blueprint for the conscious rap star. It helps how he was considered something of a rap prodigy and backpack rap was at its peak popularity along with the internet's growing presence in hip-hop and mixtapes.

Honestly I feel J Cole (who was even linkrd with Lupe via All-City Chess Club) and Logic followed the blueprint more closely than Kendrick. But Kendrick is most definitely from the Lupe tree/branch.

that’s five projects I would put toe to toe with Kendricks out of three missteps

All of those projects except his latest are bogged down by instances of bland production generic hooks or filler.
