    Gimmicks aren't inherently bad things

what you want him to do? Make the same movies as everyone else? Lmao

I don’t see anybody getting on Tarantino’s back for always making similar styled movies or Scorsese’s back for always making crime movies

Shyamalan has a number of movies that don’t feature twists either, in fact nearly half his movies don’t actually have any twist (Signs, After Earth, The Happening, Lady in the Water, The Last Airbender and The Visit). Furthermore, he has made superhero movies, horror movies, sci fi/fantasy movies, and even a period drama

So idk where you getting off with this notion that shyamalan makes the same movie every time. He’s actually probably one of the more versatile filmmakers out there. They may not always be good, but he takes more risks than most directors in Hollywood

split is godly and showcases he can effortlessly pull off whatever it is they ask of him like weezer and the white album

I think Ridley kinda hurt himself cuz he make a lotta mid in between his classics but man def has several classics and I think films like Kingdom of Heaven, American Gangster, Alien Covenant and The Counselor are not talked about enough

    HelloMari

    Yall remember The Village?

To me the village was one of his last great works.. But then it all crumbled to s*** with his twist ending. I remember going to a weekend premier of it and everyone walking out soo upset about how it ended lol. Let’s not even talk about Lady In The Water. I saw it for free and was still mad

What exactly is bad about the village's ending?

And why do you feel that way about lady in the water?
