I’m questioning OP’s point. MGK can only make this music now with commercial success and an audience because he spent his career making money and connections in the industry off Black music. He agrees with me his rap s*** is horrific. It is 1000x times easier for him to make derivative lifeless pop punk and be successful with it because of the audience and industry connections he has now, and pop punk is a white dominated genre he has no trouble transitioning into.
