It depends on the song.

Rapping and Singing has a lot of overlap today. But Thug and Future still have a lot of songs where their ONLY rapping.

I have never heard a post malone song where he's just spitting bars and not singing or being melodic, when he first blew up he was always singing on his songs, so he to say if he was "strictly rap" doesn't make any sense.

I dont like this framing MGK doing a pop punk album as ditching hip hop, hes been doing music similar to this his entire career but this time he went fully into it. He isnt post malone or kid rock

Tbh. The fact that hip hop has so many unwritten rules and is gatekept as f*** is the reason why im not surprised niggas want to leave.

It's also why you see a lot of BLACK artists in hip hop don't want to be labeled "rappers" specifically because along with that comes a lot of bullshit standards you're held to.
