Well I hope you're very happy, and I hope she knows you only like the beginnings of things.

S4 wasted no time at all. “That really happened. You’re a bad person.” And “every date with you is like a first date” are such perfect hints into Don’s psyche

You can pinpoint the exact moment Don falls out of love with Megan

    He was never “in love”
He just needed a crutch and didn’t want to put in the vulnerability needed for a healthy relationship

    I wouldn't say that.

He was attracted to Megan's maternal warmth that Betty never was able to display towards the children. And he also he loved Megan's ambition to further her career and better herself -- something that Betty also never showed (but he likely bears the blame for most of that)

Season 5 is a testament to Don's attempt to try to be an involved member of a relationship and try to ease up on his control. But he was so busy in building up this image of Megan that his feelings for her immediately evaporated when she wanted him to help her cut corners in her acting career.

Don never loved anyone in a healthy way but his feelings towards Megan were real, despite being shortlived

Yea, wasn't she smoking while pregnant too?

Also found Don's success and pursuit for cigarette firms to be an interesting twist/pov to everything, that's how she and Don got everything they wanted in their life.

The show breaks down neatly how neither could really control how things turned out for them in the end

yea some people think he really found something on that retreat, something that really changed something within him and some think he just went right back to mccan to pitch the coke ad and just used it as a vessel for a new ad idea without any lasting effects...

tbh I think he would've gone back to his old ways sooner or later, the first scenario seems too good to be true with him.

Then again Betty's death might have helped him stay in that changed state; he always took grief to heart

yea i think its tricky,i guess he never really changed completely maybe he just took some attributes to heart and implement them into the rest of his life but i can't see him ever completely changing his ways, he was born to be the ad man lol
