Yes it gets better but you may occasionally feel like napping during some episodes but its a good journey

Get your pillow ready

Season 1 has some excellent episodes (the oysters one, shoot and the last 2 especially) but its clumsy at points and the show is still finding its footing i'd say. Season 2 is better but its still a slower burn. Id say the show gets better and better until the last few eps of season 2 which are incredible and then the rest of the show is phenomenal after that. Absolutely worth sticking with it. So funny, smart, beautiful to look at. I feel more connected to the main characters than any show i have seen...they are so well drawn and feel like real people. Super rewarding and fun show. But yea dont expect tons of character deaths or massive twists. Not really that kind of show. (though it does have many awesome and memorable moments)
