Joey was the return of the King of NY picking beef with the west coast and Kendrick.

JID was...doing interviews? You need a narrative. Exposure isn't a narrative.

you named Tyler doing 2 songs and proximity to Clipse and being the leader of a group as reasons why his traditional rollout worked

okay, I named 8 major platforms (nigga is sitting across from LeBron lmao) that JID went on that align with traditional platforms and he also had a single with Clipse

all I’m saying is, people do the traditional rollout and its received differently and some people’s rollouts are missed like JID and Glorilla so it may not be that impactful

what does that even mean bruh, they both got some of the biggest rap singles last 2-3 years lol

Cole directly mentioned the influence in an interview after KOD. But basically both albums have a looser concept with modern trap influenced "bangers" woven between conventional hip hop tracks. Cole was very anti the newer hip hop sound at that time so he basically directly credited Kenny for inspiring him to embrace it. Only thing KOD didn't have have was the LOVE and LOYALTY type joints DAMN. did

    Eh...Kevin's Heart

Tyler appeared at the Pop Out. Then remixed a Kendrick song and did a Clipse feature. Then debuted his new look and sound and made a ton of music videos. And he picked a lot of fights.

Joey returned from a hiatus claiming he was the King of NY and picked a fight with the entire west coast and had a whole diss exchange beginning with a rap cypher.

Clipse returned from a hiatus and Push went around picking fights with the culture in interviews and rappers on wax and we saw them perform together for the first time in years.

All three involved Kendrick's success btw. In one way or another.

JID did interviews? Anything else to tell me?

None of them do interviews very often but the beef definitely changed it to ever

Unless it’s a curated one, Which I usually hate

And how many more times would they even need to consider doing interviews for promotion given they probably aren’t going to drop a lot more albums in their lives

Cole is clearing the way for a retirement album and I know retirement for musicians is flimsy but its definitely signaling a slowdown for his career.

I doubt Kendrick is going to be churning out tons of projects in the next decade

And if Iceman goes as poorly as it seems like its about to Drake probably moves into a different phase as well

lol idk why you keep tryna minimize the interviews when the the original discussions was traditional rollouts which interviews are a heavy aspect, including Tyler who did multiple as well leading up to his 2 albums.

JID had one of the biggest songs on tiktok in Surround Sound following his last album as build up to this album. the nigga is literally sitting across from LeBron, the biggest black music podcaster in Joe, the biggest black music radio station time slot on the East and west (sat with Charla and Big Boy), was on the biggest late night TV spot on Fallon, and was featured on Apple Music both in interview and Apple Music Live

again, idk why you keep minimizing that because he didn’t have a proximity to Kendrick and you missed the rollout, but he also got a Clipse feature, had Ciara back in her bag, had a Vince feature, Westside Gunn, Ty$, Don Toliver, Earthgang and Mereba. Every one of these artists dropped an album leading up to his album dropping lol

Cole just did like 20 hours of interviews on a dedicated website to his career and other interviews with Yachty, Narduwar, gave an hour interview to a white writer at ESPN all in 2023-2024 all leading up to MDL and the Fall Off

they can definitely do more interviews and just choose not to
