The impression I get is this is a wild gory Italian style 80’s horror flick with no pretense of saying anything important. That sounds like a breath of fresh air in a sea of self important horror attempting meaningful social commentary which often times comes across painfully unsubtle and lacking in nuance.
Italian? What makes you say that I didn’t end up seeing it yet
I hope you ain’t just throwing that around cuz giallo is amazing

I haven’t seen it yet, that’s just what I’ve heard. Wan also said he’s gonna make Aquaman 2 influenced by Mario Bava’s Italian film Planet of the Vampires. I also read a review of this saying it’s like the 80’s Italian movie ghosthouse. So from what I hear it’s less Giallo and more wild 80’s stuff like Demons.

It goes pretty crazy at the end but nothing too out there like I saw people comparing to Hereditary earlier. If I had to pick a movie it reminded me of the most it’d prob be classic physiological slashers like Nightmare on Elm Street. It does have influence from giallos but feels more like 80s camp in general. It’s pretty damn good for what it is
i enjoyed it for how dumb and over the top it was. would've worked better if it stuck with the giallo film aesthetics.
@HoneyBunny how was it
There’s 3 I wanna see in theaters next month so I’ll probably just watch it tonight. Is it really gory?
yes lol
this s*** was so ridiculous in the best way
from the corny ass intro that felt like it was out of a b movie in the 80's to the over the top score that was both awesome and absurd
the plot is insane and the twist is just as wild as people are saying this is
im definitely thinking this'll be a film you'll love or hate but i had an absolute blast. just completely ridiculous, original and fun
@elvis this sums it up for me
after sleeping on it i still agree with it but i want to add that it's really funny too
pretty good film all in all

You haven’t seen insidious?
its one of those movies i've wanted to see for years but im too lazy yanno
I feel like it’s important to say if you’re wondering why the acting is “bad” in the opening, that is entirely INTENTIONAL. It’s probably the scene with the most campiness in it, for me it set the tone really well for the rest of the movie but I can see how people would be put off by it and tell themselves they’re watching a bad movie
This was great

He actually described it pretty well. It was gory, especially the end. It had a lot if Italian inspiration. And it was very camp. It also wasn't a screenplay with content mined from Twitter discussions or some uninspired brainlet film by Ari Aster
Lmfao
Too unrealistic
Lots of rip offs
"Too unrealistic" is one of the laziest non-criticisms that can be said about a film

You really didn't pick up on the social commentary? At all?
