He literally wanted Antony for 40m early in the transfer window (still would’ve been a bit overpriced).

But it was Richard Arnold and co who couldn’t get the deal done until the end who ended up paying 80/90m

He literally wanted Antony for 40m

I want Erling Haaland and Bellingham for 25 mil each

Antony for 40m is not as insane as you are trying to make it sound lmao. Ajax would’ve let him go earlier in the summer

Demanding the player is the key

Atleast you realized how stupid it is to name a pricetag as a manager

Honestly, Antony came in and scored goals straight away/seemed alright until the WC which appeared to kill his confidence off.

Martinez was solid last season outside of the Liverpool game where the whole team were awful.

Mount is the one I just don't understand. On top of that he's barely played due to injury.

Even Pep has admitted he owes a lot of his consistency to the footballing structure set up by the City owners

Yes, so ETH is in the wrong

He can't be defended because of a structure he apparently needs, when he himself is the one against that structure working properly

I think we're a week away (?) from being able to have gotten Mount for free

Awful transfer and everyone knew it

But the demand was almost finalized. Look:

United just waited too long for whatever reason and ended up paying dearly.

The fact they didn’t have alternatives falls on the recruitment imo.

Yes for denying Ralf i agree.

But other than that I think he will do much better under Ratcliffe’s proposed footballing structure

Do you think that whoever wrote this article was participating in the negotiations?

Yea Mount can only work if they have a much more cohesive technical and fit squad a la Ajax. With two 8/10’s attacking and a more football oriented backline.

    • Antony, overpriced, underperforming, could still work in a more technical “total football” team
    • Mount, not needed unless there were more coming in, such as a solid ball carrying (defensive) midfielder and more technical backs
    • Onana, i think he will adjust fine
    • Martinez has been consistent until injury and an occassional freak game
    • Hojlund, will come fine but needs an experienced striker ahead of him
    • Casemiro, great for the time being, too old and can’t carry the midfield, not the right buying strategy imo (also he was rashly suggested as a lastminute de Jong replacement)
    • Eriksen, great for a free transfer
    • Malacia, fine for the fee

The thing is United have spent 400m but are still thin on squad players. That’s where it hurts the most. These transfer fees are the biggest culprit.

You need more squad players with stamina and a premier league physique and pace.

He is constantly wrong on transfer fees… he might get information on positive and negative status of transfers but if everybody knew the demands and expectations of the negotiations then negotiations wouldnt be necessary

Clearly Ajax did not agree with the 40 milion offer

ETH need all these things to survive in the job fine

He’s directly told us he wants full control which would negate those roles

The problem isn’t the set up then, which he has repeatedly told us he loves, it’s the man himself not being good enough or smart enough to realise it’s not in his realm to make all these decisions.

I’ve told you all he was a bullshitter for months and it wasn’t just because we lost a game or two.

    100% this.

Despite the criticism ten Hag’s demand for players were never that bad, despite how unrealistic they might’ve been, and he usually resorts to his n-th option:

    • de Jong (got Casemiro instead)
    • Timber (got Martinez instead)
    • Kim Min-jae
    • Joao Felix
    • Gakpo (was afforded Weghorst)
    • Todibo (got Jonny Evans instead)
    • Gravenberch (got Sabitzer instead)
    • Kane (had to pick Hojlund instead)

Yeah well it’s hard to be sure either way.

Ajax clearly became stingy and more demanding when they lost all their other players, which could’ve been avoided is my point.

    Just some tiny demands fr

    Let’s debunk the hardest one:

Would you rather pay 70m for Hojlund or 100m for Kane?

And i know Spurs “wouldn’t sell him to a premier league club” but that could be part of their bluff

And yes de Jong was practically impossible, but for a while de Jong’s career at Barca seemed unsure.

The rest were doable, especially by a properly run club

Would be funny if football fans would mass protest by not watching any games and going to domestic league games instead

Oh I’m 100% done if united join this thing.

Just scrap football system all together get rid of Martin Tyler replace him with whatever sheik pays the most to be on the air, and have bet365 sponsor every millisecond of the game.

  • Dec 21, 2023

also the new CL format is kinda a super league already its way more teams and its no more groups.

having played it in FM this year, im semi-out on it.
