I agree with the sentiment but unfortunately Mainoo is too good to keep him under wraps like that. This type of central midfielder does not come around very often at all

18 years old and he’s doing up Liverpool’s midfield like it was nothing. If it wasn’t going to be now it would’ve definitely been at the end of the season considering Mainoo is 100% playing the vast majority of the games left and will continue to be our best midfielder more likely than not

He gets so much protection because of how Southgate has set up previously. I just would go far less defensive. We have so many good attackers, we have the best recovery defender in the world in Walker, and an elite DM in Rice. We don't need to set up so rigidly. But because of that we do need pacier defenders. Branthwaite ain't extremely fast but he's certainly faster than Maguire.
