The worrying thing about Southgate (there’s obviously multiple) is that while still not ideal, he will have had the most familiarity with the squad compared to any other candidate… he can feasibly be brought in later than a Tuchel, De Zerbi, etc.

Considering how fragile our defense is and one of our most experienced cbs has left (on a free 🤡 at that), it makes sense.

Familiarity is a stretch, he knows like what 5 players. Two of which have been injured all season. One didn't make the euros. One has played one game under him. And the other we should be looking to sell.

Maguire, Shaw, Sancho, Rashford, AWB, Mainoo. I did say it still isn’t ideal, but the point still stands, Southgate has managed and coached all of them at some point.

Swap AWB for Mount. Still doesn't give him any meaningful advantage whatsoever in my opinion, international football is a completely different realm. Shouldn't be bringing in any new manager later than literally the end of this week (not that I think they are planning to).

The only caveat INEOS have in their favour is the football men they do want to run that side of the club aren’t here owing to garden leave etc. and I do think that’s a mitigating factor.
