I get where your trepidations are coming from. But I think there's some misconceptions there.
To preface this, I have only seen Ten Hag's Ajax teams. Anything regarding Utrecht I've only read up on.
Ten Hag isn't an inflexible, Ajax only style manager. At Utrecht they chopped and changed from the standard Dutch 4-3-3. He played 5-3-2 and 4-4-2 diamonds. It wasn't always pretty football, it was tailored to the individuals.
Our club at its core has 2 principles, these have not changed:
1) Youth development
2) Entertaining, attacking football
Both of these are elements that Ten Hag is completely aligned with.
His concepts aren't that foreign or groundbreaking in this day and age. They are certainly all elements that our recent managers have at times attempted to implement. And elements that SAF strongly believed in.
Our infrastructure has had, and likely continues to have, its flaws. But it does genuinely seem like there's an effort to correct course. The DOF restructuring over the summer, scouting overhaul, facilities improvement. One thing that has always remained a constant is focus on the academy.
And yeah it's easy to say well Ajax players are indoctrinated in that style - but you're overlooking all the crucial players who aren't.
Frenkie De Jong wasn't an Ajax academy kid. They brought him in at 18 (technically 19 cause he was loaned back to Willem initially). Dusan Tadic was in the running for the ballon d'or under him. David Neres joined from Sau Paulo. Tagliafico and Alvarez from Argentina.
Players can and should improve. Their strengths and weaknesses aren't static presets. Professionals will work hard and understand well executed instructions. Especially professionals like Ronaldo and Varane. Pogba is likely gone anyway.
The core of our squad is still young. Players like Shaw, Sancho, Rashford, Bruno are all very capable of quick passing games. We see it on plenty of our attacks down the left wing. Its why I suspect players like Sancho and VDB haven't been successful so far in whatever the hell system we try and play. They're also capable of pressing, we see glimpses of it when we suddenly decide to start playing after conceding. We saw it in Ole's first few months here.
We're failing and will continue to fail because we are not well drilled tactically. Resting on our laurels because 'oh some of these guys might not get it' isn't a good enough reason. I can't wait for that teething period. It's necessary with whoever comes in. I'd rather it be him, having done it each summer Ajax get raided.
With Bayern having gone for Nagelsman, Barca in ruin, we have a very good chance imo at getting him this summer. And should absolutely take it.
Do an a***ysis on Zidane
Could’ve been on top ffs
We shouldn’t have dropped a single point this season. Look at the fixtures we’ve had, ffs.
Brighton are a strong side and I'm impressed at the team's ability to have restricted their shots on target to a minimum. We got an important point in a tough away fixture against an opponent above us in the league table. The cornerstone of our team (Granit Xhaka) was also out injured, which makes it even all the more impressive in my eyes.
Arsenal apologists are not welcome here. Y’all are trash and can’t convince me otherwise.
@DwindlingSun - It’s a fair post, I think a lot of the stuff you’re saying about Ten Hag can apply to a good chunk of the good level coaches, mind (I.E what Ole isn’t).

Just on the point re: pressing; we have a shamefully lazy attack. A better manager would get them doing it a bit more, but it’s a huge weakness to our side. Here are the percentiles of our attackers pressures per 90:
Ronaldo - 1st percentile (lmao)
Greenwood - 22nd
Sancho - 8th
Rashford - 12th
Martial - 13th
Fernandes - 91st
Cavani - 61st
Lingard - 90th
Outside of Fernandes, only two attackers in our side genuinely want to press. And one we tried to sell and the other is 34 with massive injury problems.
The first line of defence is from the front foot, and we’re already at a disadvantage because most of the time our attack barely moves!
Ten Hag is a good coach, but I can’t imagine Ten Hag stuttering some tactics to Ronaldo lmao. Man has 0 personality.

Look, it's been a bumpy ride, I will not deny that. But I am seeing real progress being made and a squad that is buying into the process. I genuinely think we can be title challengers anywhere between 3 and 30 years from now.

It was alleged that Spurs actually didn’t pick him owing to his communication issues.

Zidane
Zidane
Would be the only viable option to me tbh. But Zidane isn’t really the most tactical of coaches either tho.

Worked for Sir Alex all you need is a good coaching team
Zizou or bring back Mou for another go after he wins serie a with Roma
Lmao @ Mourinho

I've seen this but I don't understand why people say this. I checked his interviews and he speaks English well enough. I don't think anyone in the team should have an ego about his tactics when his Ajax team has gone further than most of our players in the cl. Ronaldo even got trashed by his team

Exactly. I don't know why there's this idea that we don't have players that can press or play a passing game. There are several instances where we've done that with Ole

It’s not his English, it’s more the way he talks in general. Even in Dutch he mumbles and stutters a lot, that’s no problem if you’re mainly coaching young players at Ajax, but it’s a whole different story with superstars at United like Bruno Ronaldo and Pogba. If results aren’t good he’ll lose the locker room in an instant.

Where you getting this information from. I'm curious cause the video I watched of him he didn't struggle with stuttering

I see a lot of his press conferences here, cus they be shown a lot on most football shows in Holland. Many ppl also making fun over here about his speaking abilities.

English media will eat him if he makes us perform poorly or call him a genius if we perform well. I think the fear with changing managers among United fans is that apart from not winning trophies, the wrong manager can also damage the squad with signings that don't suit how United should be. Which means we would have to go through another year or years of rebuild looking for the 'United way' with the next manager like we saw under Lvg and Mourinho.
I think with Ten Hag it wouldn't be the case. Even if he doesn't achieve anything here he'd still leave the club with a squad that can play exciting football and strong enough to win trophies.

He’s not winning the série A bro
