If you regulate and stop it here in the united states you will just be giving that power to companies in other countries that will not have the same regulations. True, the difference is you can actually benefit from ai in a non scammy way.

We'd need to get strict definitions particularly for conservative

I'm taking it to mean not wanting to change the status quo, which is at base level capitalism. democrip or rebloodican, they both uphold an economic system. And I don't see successful capitalists advocating to dismantle capitalism, which fair enough because if they did they'd be hypocrites

They realized that without safeguards you could feed AI everything about chemistry and have it help you come up with amazing medicine in deep medicine. Or it could help you understand how to build a nuclear bomb. They realized that you could build it to study a network like that of the banking system to fortify it from cyber attacks. Or you could use that information to find vulnerabilities and break into sensitive systems. I think that's what they're worried about.

But the letter is pointless. Just because good faith actors take a pause doesn't mean bad faith actors will do the same. If anything they will use the pause to catch up and find ways to out-maneuver good actors. The people who designed these models are smart but there are even smarter people out there who are going to use these tools in ways the creators never even thought of.

Right now it's a pretty functional tool and something along the lines of a very efficient search engine that can help you with low level functions

I don't think it can really go past the current point of how much it is able to do cause it doesn't really work like that

You can't just tell it to create an entire project to your liking, but it is useful for getting you out of bottlenecks and deadends. And even after generating a certain function, you need to filter through it and understand it yourself

It's most likely gonna reduce the number of software developers/office workers needed but not eradicate it. Or it will and everything I said will be incredibly false
