    Galaxy is GOAT

    Odyssey, Sunshine and 64 better

Got this and Odyssey around same time.

It's crazy how consistent in quality this series is, but also different very game is from the last.

    Such a classic game

I doubt they will. It would take too much development time for an already launched game and/or they might want it to feel nostalgic.

    Odyssey, Sunshine and 64 better

    My ranking would be:

    1. Odyssey
    2. Galaxy 2
    3. Galaxy
    4. 64
    5. Sunshine

64 would be higher but given its age it’s a bit hard to play now. All amazing games though

  • Nov 18, 2020

    Odyssey is easily the best

  • Nov 19, 2020

    1. 64
    2. Sunshine
    3. Odyssey
    4. Galaxy 2
    5. Galaxy

Man Sunshine is straight up PUNISHING at points.

No wonder I never beat this as a kid lmao.

  • Dec 13, 2020

Beat Super Mario Sunshine. Prolly not grabbing the hub world shines, blue coin shines, or the 7 extra 100 coin shines, but I did grab all 10 main shines in each of the 7 outer worlds, and ended up wit 74 total (Grabbed a few in the hub world.) Normally I prolly would if this was a new release, but being that I still got the third game in the collection to get to, I don’t really see the point in grinding out the rest of the bonus shines when they don’t even unlock anything lmao. Finished at about 20 hours even. It’s definitely not the most polished Mario, and the subpar camera, controls, and physics were disappointing and made the game unnecessarily hard at points, so it really would have benefited from a remake, but overall I loved the game and it’s definitely better than 64. Odyssey is still the best Mario, but that’s such an extremely high ceiling to top. 8.5/10

Hype to start Galaxy! I think originally I didn’t even play past the first world, so this is essentially brand new to me. Sunshine was basically the same, but originally I had at least played the first 2 worlds lol.

Odyssey is the best, cappy changed the game for the better, that's why an Odyssey 2 is welcomed

64 and Sunshine are equal sitting at 2nd place but 64 would win with 16:9 and a***og controls

Galaxy is a whole ass gimmick

So a friend gifted me mario 3d all stars for christmas and while i still think its a mid collection id feel wrong not playing it so now after 100% all three games my ranking for 3d mario games is
    1. SMG 2
    2. Mario odyssey
    3. SMG 1
    4. Mario 64
    5. Mario sunshine

I 100% completed mario 64 twice last year and both times it was frustrating because game aged so bad. Mario is slippery when he moves and in tight spaces and snow levels its most notable. Wall jumping is cancer and camera is trash. It has amazing levels tho and aside from a few stars i really love it.

Mario sunshine was by far the most frustrating not because of its difficulty but because nintendo had some badly executed ideas in the game. Lily pad level is woat and unless you use the trick to walk back to the start im sure i would still be playing sunshine. The secret shine with the throwing piantas in pinata village is by far the worst mechanic in a mario game as you have to wait in a TIMED level. Also you never know where piantas throw you cause its a broken mechanic. The boat in the last level has some weird ass physics and i had yo play it multiple times to get all blue coins. The blue coins in general can be genius in where they're placed(especially in noki bay) but at the same time stupid and impossible to figure out without a guide (in pinata village spraying a sign and spraying the moon from a golden mushroom, spraying the big tree in a specific point without any visual clue). The worst mario game to 100% but has the best ideas and the vacation setting is very consistent.

I played Mario galaxy mainly undocked
cause i couldnt use my tv at all times and man it almost ruins the game, especially since im left handed and picking up star bits with touchscreen was very uncomfortable. But when i was playing it docked i felt like this remaster is better than the og, especially since you can recalibrate the pointer and the hd graphics are amazing. Also, replaying the game entirely with luigi doesnt change much and kinda makes it boring, galaxy 2 approach with making you revisit the levels to find hidden stars was pretty clever and fun.

Odyssey making these older mario games feel archaic, the controls in odyssey are god tier and you have access to so many moves compared to the previous marios

I think yes, galaxy doesnt have badly designed levels while sunshine has like 4. Sunshine has the best gameplay mechanic tho with FLUDD.
Gravity works so much and the way they play with that mechanic making it always refreshing is dope. Mario sunshine has gelato beach that's just plain boring imo, besides sand bird that level is a snoozefest.
I'll admit that noki bay, pinna park and bianco hills are amazing

Sunshine has only one bad level design with the poison red coins and it’s only one secret star not an entire world

Lily pad ride, corona mountain, roller coaster balloons and red coins of the village underside are bad levels cause they're artificially hard, mechanics dont work properly

    For real.

I’m jus now about to beat Galaxy and wrap up the collection, and Galaxy is damn near right up there wit Odyssey, but the only one of the 3 I had beat before was 64. Before now, I got like 2 worlds into Sunshine, and not even a full world into Galaxy. So Sunshine and Galaxy this time around were essentially brand new to me.

So wit that said, I was spoiled by playing the absolute best Mario game before any of the others, so all of the shortcomings of the others are so much more noticeable.

Galaxy is almost jus as much of a masterpiece tho. Need to play Galaxy 2 now. I never played it at all. Either gon cop a cheap used Wii to play it or wait and see if they hopefully drop a remaster on Switch.
