A5 lost its primary writer, there’s no telling what state that’s in given the potential Kang shift. Idk if SW exists off a story board.
I agree with you though, A5 should be a Time Runs Out storyline. It’s just that they’ve done virtually nothing to establish incursions or the idea of universes fighting each other for survival. It’s just been convoluted TVA timeline nonsense
Wait, have you not seen The Marvels? It does a little bit of what you’re talking about
Wait, have you not seen The Marvels? It does a little bit of what you’re talking about
Opening the hole into the other universe? It doesn’t really set up why universes have to survive. Unless there’s a Hickman level twist coming which I don’t foresee.
The problem also comes with the timing of A5 SW. it’s basically 18 months away. Shooting for A5 can’t go into 2026 if the date is to stick. Let’s say it does stick, there’s only f4 that can handle any multiversal cosmic level exposition needed for A5 and SW. Capt America probably won’t have anything and the Thunderbolts probably won’t. (It would be huge and actually saving for the either of them to have some
Incursions happen on Earth in a post credit or something and we see them get handled, I’d be hyped.)
It’s why I feel they should have completely changed their content delivery during COVID. Make it like a comic book. 2 big storylines that get an hour of conetent every 6 months of so. And then smaller peripheral stories where you can intimate storylines and the ramifications of the 2 tentpoles in the background.
Sorry for the long paragraphs, I’m also not trying to attack and rebut your points, I just like the discussion and think about this a lot lol

Nah you good I enjoy talking about this too.
But you’re right, that scene in The Marvels doesn’t set up why universes have to survive, but it does set up the potential of two universes colliding into each other. There’s precedence for that now in the MCU.
I agree that there are really no films lined up between now and A5 that seem to be related to any Multiverse issues, so that’s why my thinking has always been that A5 will be the first half / set-up for the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga in Secret Wars. F4 could be the movie that explains why what happened in The Marvels is not good and why it will eventually need to be corrected later on.
People ITT are predicting that Secret Wars could have the Fox/Sony universes taking the place of the Ultimate Universe from the comic storyline, and I think this theory makes a little bit of sense when you consider that the first true Incursion we’ve ever seen in the MCU involves the Fox universe.
I don’t think it’s too late for them to hit the 2026 release date. Filming for Infinity War didn’t start until January 2017, and they managed to get it released by May 2018. There’s definitely still time, but the clock is ticking, which is why I think we’ll get the official title and synopsis of A5 tonight

They have to probably announce the writers and confirm the Russos or announce the new director tonight as well. If they start this coming January they still only have 5 months to cast, build sets, do rewrites, etc.
Not as much time as you think. I could see A5/AvX hit theaters December 2026 in place of that second Star Wars movie that is on the schedule if they don't start in January.

Yeah the ultimate universe angle with the Fox X-Men is their only play for that. They just have to very wuixkly explain to the audience and the characters. F4 could do that but it just feels so fast and haphazard. And I wonder if people really want another goodbye to the fox X-men, it’ll be their their 3rd goodbye to them, you could argue 4th. Idk I feel like a delay is needed now to get things right. F4 being really good could tide over the Avengers gap.

I can see A5 being pushed back to a later month in 2026, but I think it’s definitely coming out that year for sure. But then again I don’t know, because Marvel always has their Avengers movies release right at the top of summer blockbuster season (every Avengers film so far has released in May with the exception of Endgame, which released the final Friday of April 2019)
It would be interesting to make that switch to a Christmas date post-Endgame to change the cadence of it for these new entries moving forward, but I don’t know if they’d be willing to do that. An A5 delay at this point most likely means it moving to May 2027

I’m not totally sure how I feel about that Secret Wars/Fox theory because like you said, it would be yet another goodbye to those characters, and also, if the movie ends like the comic where both universes collide and become one, then how would that justify getting a brand new cast of X-Men in the MCU moving forward? Unless the end of Secret Wars starts a soft reboot of the entire MCU

Taking another look at the Phase 6 lineup so far, I think you may be right about the Avengers movies being delayed
As of right now, there are only four films in the Phase 6 lineup and one Disney+ series (the untitled Vision series). There's no way on Earth that Phase 6 is only five projects long.
I could definitely see now the Avengers films getting a little delay now and them announcing a few more projects for Phase 6
Ive been to sdcc 5 times when I was growing up and it was one of the best experience of my life. I havent gone in like 10 years. Wish I was there. lol I don’t watch many marvel movies or anything but i just saw the thread title with sdcc in it and it gave me a bunch of nostalgia. San Diego is a beautiful city too. The gas lamp district is beautiful.
i know covid and the shows really f***ed up the flow of the post endgame phases but i just cant get over how unorganized these phases have been
Yup, it has to be. If I was Feige I wouldn’t have X-men appear at all in an MCU movie until I was ready to fully invest which would be after a soft reboot.
i know covid and the shows really f***ed up the flow of the post endgame phases but i just cant get over how unorganized these phases have been
The first three Phases really felt carefully planned out thematically and each Phase had concrete beginnings and endings.
Phase 1 began with Iron Man kicking everything off and then ended with all of the heroes teaming up in The Avengers.
Phase 2 began with Tony having extreme paranoia and PTSD in Iron Man 3 and then ended with him creating a world killing Ultron in an effort to protect everyone, while Ant-Man served as a lighthearted palette cleanser/epilogue that expanded the universe a bit.
Phase 3 then started with the Avengers disbanding and splitting up in Civil War, which led to them re-teaming up to save the Universe in Endgame. Finally, Far From Home served as another lighthearted epilogue while also showcasing the direct effects that The Snap had on the world.
Phases 4 and 5 haven't been the same whatsoever, feeling completely scattershot and just starting and stopping at arbitrary points

couldnt have put it better myself, felt more cohesive but also still had the characters doing their own stories and it wasnt a major cameo fest. if other characters appeared, its because it just made sense with a few exceptions
phase 4 suddenly ending when it did shocked me a lot, felt like the first time in over 10 years there just wasn't a concrete plan in place
i rag on MCU a lot nowadays but i do still want it to be more focused and interesting again

Yup, I think they chose the wrong characters for D+. If you know you’re doing SW, why are we getting a Moon Knight show, why is there a She Hulk show? If you do that you must devastate the audience again by killing them in the final incursion. Have them not make it on the Raft. Have characters see their doom. Instead there’s no interaction and just like it was said scattershot
Who lol
Should’ve been more specific, not necessarily THE scoopers but people who be hinting at a lot of things here and there

I know I just ranted in here but I do get the announcement bug. I hope they usher in Doom big. Maybe that’s what it’ll be. Shake it up by mirroring 2015 and having Doom be involved in setting it all up. It would skip or neuter the Dr Strange portion though
They renamed the Women Who Kick Ass Panel to the Bold School Panel so people wouldn't leave like in the past
