Alternate dimension could be cool, feel like they're just doing it to avoid all the retconning to act like they've been there the whole time, which is fair. Also have a sneaking suspicion they'll leap straight to the Maker side of things, which is a lil boring imo, especially if they're gonna shove the rogue's gallery into a humorous intro

Exactly , Keeping them in the same dimension to start would lead to actual retconning in the MCU and legit inconsistencies

Yeah they tested the waters on that bullshit with captain marvel and it stunk like s***. Not the worst idea but it's very hamfisted and the deck of cards is too tall now to just start doing that in the 4th quarter, especially with the 2 classic teams you haven't touched yet (X-Men and F4)

“Retcon” was at the forefront of your argument . Literally not surprising that i would focus on how that doesn’t make sense to me . Other than that i don’t care to argue whether you like it or not on a base level . That was clearly never what i was arguing , you using “retcon” as addition fuel to your dislike was

Explain to me why even the fantastic four cartoon wasn't memorable. Even the cartoons aren't very marketable. The characters are outdated

For this generation most marvel related cartoons aren’t that memorable, also why use that example . Where the f*** is the guardians cartoon , s*** barely gets mentioned ever . Fantastic four is still a notable name despite botched movie releases as well and i believe the bad quality of those films is the culprit as to why it isn’t as big as guardians

You at least have the admit that even before any adaptions , fantastic four was clearly more notable than guardians on comics alone . What is stopping it from being more successful with a good adaption then ?

I don't think you're hearing me. The fantastic four to date has never had a fan favorite adaptation away from comics. That says something about their appeal to different markets. Also I just don't have faith in marvel to be able to actually do something new with these characters

I’ll tone down my aggressiveness i haven’t had coffee

So i believe their lack of success is from no notable or mainly quality adaptation and i attribute all of guardians success to the quality they brought to the big screens. Hardly the marketability of the characters alone

You believe that fantastic four should have had a notable pop off regardless of quality and quality or not guardians would have been more popular either way because it’s more marketable on a character level

Just making sure I’m understanding right

Yes my point is that guardians(due to having an ever rotating cast of characters) leaves more room for creativity and fun

He's a tad old imo but they're flailing to grab another star so it's not a surprise. Very insulated choice, especially when he's already their mandalorian

The real surprise is seeing that they're not even trying to foster careers anymore, a couple years ago and they'd have cast an indie darling/up n comer

He’s in one of the biggest HBO shows in history, he’s seen as one of the most attractive actors alive, and he’s a very recognizable name

So yea I’m not surprised at all he was chosen to be the lead, Disney needs this to be a sure hit if they want any chance of the F4 brand staying alive

Ah new point or more so clarification as to why you feel like it may hit demographics better now / going forward

Well i respect it , looking forward to the next year pop off for fantastic four or not maybe if you end up being right

Anticipation for Superman and F4 restoring the feeling. So much riding on these two but I'm confident they'll fully deliver.

I was a big fan of FF as a kid. Had the video games and everything. As an adult I’ve rewatched the 2000s movies to realize they are not great but the IP still appealed to me. You got a rock guy, flame guy, stretchy guy, and invisible girl

As for different dimension, it’s not like it would’ve been hard to make an origin story for them and have it take place in the present. They’re trying something different while respecting FF status as Marvel’s first successful brand in comics.

    Let them cook

If they can’t do it with F4 then live action Iron Man should have never taken off, cause F4’s cast of characters and comics are far more ripe for blockbuster franchise material than Iron Man comics ever were

That's all fine and dandy, I like Pedro too he's genuinely good, but he's 49 with a stacked itinerary. They're just setting themselves up for another gaping hole in the roster imo, should've went younger

Shoulda got the nigga from You or something, he'd have been a perfect d***head reed

  • Jun 27, 2024

As a matter of fact, what @Whateverx2 is saying is what makes the lack of a great F4 film so frustrating cause they DO have the fun characters and world that would easily work for film

Same with Hulk and Daredevil (pre show) and Green Lantern and modern Superman

  • Jun 27, 2024

RDJ needed iron man at first after taking Ls for some years, then the popularity quickly turned that into him wanting to bow out after every installment. Pedro will be no different once he starts putting out those "I'm getting old now and am ready to settle down with my family/chase projects that are closer to my heart" statements 3 movies in

Iron Man took off cause of Robert Downey Jr tbh. Not the character

Also I disagree on fantastic four being fit for film. Its really not. The comics are just too out there and reminiscent of the older age of comic books. Iron Man was revamped in a way that made it a more modern fantasy
