having said that, i cant help but see every other martial arts movie inside of this one. it just looks like a rehash to me.

sure. but it just feels.....hollow. and i know for SURE they will mild it down for general audiences and..again...thats fine and expected. im sure im gonna like it. but right now? it looks ...or rather feels like so many other colorful martial arts movies blended in with americanized martial arts movies that rely heavy on comedy
also shoutout jackie chan for truly dragging this s*** into america.
Being inspired by other martial arts movies is not really a complaint to me
Not every movie in every genre needs to do something completely new to be good and fresh

i understand that and noted that in my post.
but this is the leading cbm company that millions of ppl pay attention to. they constantly drop the ball when it comes to characters that arent straight white dudes and i want this to be something new or different and its just more of the same.
they always have chances to push the line and it seems like they always want to stand firmly behind it.
youd think after 20 movies they would but alas

The problem is that not all of the millions of people want something completely different.
They tried to be completely different with the first few episodes of WandaVision, and that immediately got a way worse response than the rest of the series (by most people)
Personally loved those first few episodes, but so many people called them boring IRL

imo the whole series was boring but not because they "tried something different"
it was very in line with what they typically try to pass off as introspective plus a call back multiplied by hollow writing. show looked good tho.i understand that. but when i say take a chance i mean something like letting captain marvel have her own movie without adding sam jackson in it to help carry it. i mean having dr strange be more psychedelic than the 30 second sequence we got. and lowkey this movie reminded me of dr strange. training montages. except this looks like itll be a series of flashbacks.
idk man. it just looked like...another late stage marvel movie. the ones that dont stand out. but again, i think it will be good.

They did try something different. A comic book studio starting their show with 2 whole episodes as a 50s and 60s sitcom is doing something different. Rest of the show wasn't that different sadly, but those episode were different and those were the ones which were disliked by alot of fans.
I couldn't disagree more with letting Captain Marvel have a movie without Nick Fury. That movie got a lot of problems but that is not one of them.
So many MCU fans LOVE when characters appear in each other movies. It makes it feel like a connected universe. Just like Rhodey appearing in Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Feel like it's going to be another Dr. Strange-type film, and that's not really to knock it but more to emphasize on how dull and maybe drawn out the lows are when compared to the good scenes with magic creativity and whatnot. They could easily knock this film out of the park though.
