I'm really concerned with where they'll take the character from here. Typically studios think that every film in a series must be more grandiose than the last..and how tf do you top the 3 Spider-Men, nostalgia villain lineup, and reemergence of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock?

Wouldn't be surprised if he just pops up in an ensemble or two with a final film introducing Miles and ending with the death of Peter Parker.

I’m not sure but this scene really gives off massive Spider-Man vibes, probably the most I’ve seen from Toms version so far

I like the idea of the metal mask with the grin from the Raimi film, it’s simple and logical.

As for going full-on comic accurate in appearance and function while being doable? I’ve always felt like the most logical way to adapt the 616 Goblin mask-face would be a full-body physical transformation into the classic Goblin look due to the serum (obviously brought to life by Weta digital), with the purple costume over the skin. So a mix between 616 and Ultimate essentially

That way you can have a completely accurate Goblin look that functions like the classic Goblin mask without the issue of believability that a mere mask can move, or the unnecessary need to have a tryhard design that veers away from the classic look. Transforms like Ultimate, looks like 616.

Also this context of literal transformation makes the classic look seem less ridiculous too, as the idea of a guy transforming into a demonic looking Goblin creature is more believable - and cooler - than deciding to dress up in a costume that looks like that with a mask that we’re supposed to believe can move like a face lol

A bunch of stuff. Spider-Man's identity is too tied to other MCU heroes. Even when they try to be like "you gotta be Spider-Man not Iron Man!" they have a scene immediately following where he makes a new suit in a plane with AC/DC playing...

The idea of Tony's inheritance is ridiculous too and the idea Parker gives it to Beck that quickly is laughable.

It's a fine MCU movie, just not a good Spider-Man movie. MCU Spider-Man has no Aunt May (Aunt May is not a mom in the comics, she's a struggling old lady), no Uncle Ben shown, no job, no secret identity, no money issues, etc.

Jake G is a GOAT Marvel villain though and the scenes with Mysterio are top notch.
