A bunch of stuff. Spider-Man's identity is too tied to other MCU heroes. Even when they try to be like "you gotta be Spider-Man not Iron Man!" they have a scene immediately following where he makes a new suit in a plane with AC/DC playing...

The idea of Tony's inheritance is ridiculous too and the idea Parker gives it to Beck that quickly is laughable.

It's a fine MCU movie, just not a good Spider-Man movie. MCU Spider-Man has no Aunt May (Aunt May is not a mom in the comics, she's a struggling old lady), no Uncle Ben shown, no job, no secret identity, no money issues, etc.

Jake G is a GOAT Marvel villain though and the scenes with Mysterio are top notch.

    100% agree

This is my issue with the MCU Spider-Man movies.

Emo Parker scene in the third one is genuinely the worst CBM sequence ever

That dance party s*** in GOTG along with some other s*** has made me not watch the sequel.

i'm gonna post this in the doctor strange thread too but do you guys think since sam raimi is directing multiverse we're going to see more practical effects?

watching the nwh trailer its sooo obvious to me that these mfs cgi'd everything (almost every mcu movie is like that now) if i wasn't seeing tobey and andrew return i really wouldn't be excited for this movie from a cinematic stand point. the bridge scene in the trailer looked so bland to me ngl - since everything is cgi too Ock looks so weightless to me now. SM2 Ock looked like he moved with weight. i hope raimi is able to bring back the cinematic flair that his previous work had and isn't stifled by the mcu.

Spider-Man very interactive in the comics, probably the most interactive hero actually. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him interact with anybody in the comics so them doing it for the films is fine

Plus, they’ll probably do a trilogy where he’s older with a much different tone but I appreciate that they gave him a different setup

Nothing wrong with being interactive if he's actually been able to stand on his own previously, which hasn't happened yet. He had a Iron Man suit in the first solo film he had.

It's low-key gotten to the point where there are Spidey fans who don't even know his origin story because the MCU films are too busy strongarm-ing Sony into making him tied to the MCU. And it has a business motive: If Sony's films are inseparable from the MCU and if Spidey can't stand on his own, Sony will feel like they need Disney's help. It's all calculated and I'm sick of it.

Just gimme a good Spider-Man movie with someone I identify with and root for. This actually looks like it could be that, so I'm excited.

I really didn't know SM3 was hated so much. It was my favorite of the trilogy when I was young. Made me so emotional with the black suit, Harry's death and sandman's arc. Maybe I'll have a different view if I watch it again now I'm older

Maybe Dafoe's Goblin takes him under his wing?
