IMAX literally does let any and everything on their screens as long as there's money behind it

When it’s summer time and there is competition no … when it’s holiday season no
    They have had exclusivity deals

You think if they made more imax screens exclusivity would end when they are literally making more imax screens specifically for the Odyessy . Including imax 70mm

17 extra screens, I'm talking about at a widespread level

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here

My point is that BND has its release date announced literal days after The Odyssey's, knowing Nolan's history

If BND in IMAX was important for Sony/Disney, they wouldn't have locked in that date that was so close to The Odyssey

Nolan signed IMAX exclusivity in mid 2021 for a 2023 release with Oppenheimer. He likely had July 2026 locked up since summer 2024, well before the official dates were announced.

This is how he works. Its not new. You're relying on the announcement date as if thats the day things were locked.

  • so those leaks were right

  • HaroldsChicken

So why would they not do an exclusivity deal even if they had more screens . To risk spider man who again didn’t drop a trailer until today not selling out ? To not have money in their hands . The exclusivity deals will always exist

If you are questioning whether or not a Spider-Man film would sell out, then this conversation is pointless

I feel like the point has been lost because you're not even responding to what I'm saying lmao

This year is a tough year for Marvel release dates

But I think if Marvel wasn't confident enough in these movies to not have a box office bump with IMAX they would move them. Spider-Man and Avengers will do well, probably make a billion each, and we'll forget all about the IMAX conversation 2 weeks after the movies have been out

  • Nobody is questioning how and when Nolan had his IMAX dates secured

They are doing new screens brother …. Specifically for Odyessy .

    Read this post several times

  • After seeing every single one of these movies in IMAX (if possible), these two huge ass movies not having it is bullshit. Kinda taking a little bit of the air out of them imo

17 screens is not enough to make a significant change in how many films are able to be shown in IMAX at a time

It is but both will still prob be huge releases of the year and comfortably beat out their competition globally, which is why they're keeping these dates.

IMAX is important for box office, but U.S. IMAX is only a fraction of what they're relying on here.

They are doing it for a film filmed 100% on imax not for marvel movie not filmed on iMax . We’ve said this 5 times . They are doing it for the movie that sold out a year in advanced with physical tickets

Logically you aren’t going to do it for movies not filmed in imax . It cost money to film mane release in imax

    It’s better than liemax

  • They hating on IMAX smh

  • Oblivion X

I mean im not just talking about other characters from the universe, i dont mind that in small doses. Its the overstuffing that i have issue with. Punisher, Scorpion, tombstone, mr negative, hulk, whoever sadie sink is, Man-Spider storyline.

The mcu Spiderman was different, but we're at movie 4 now, more than tobey and Andrew, and the start of a new trilogy. It would of been a perfect time to make a shift especially when no one remembers who Peter is

Spidey always had many characters show up, I think you won’t be as mad about this since it isn’t going to be an avengers savior plot. just his rogue gallery and common allies

Nobody disagreed with any of this

My point at the start of this conversation: Sony was not trying to step on Nolan's date for Odyssey because they announced the release date for BND back in October 2024, the same exact month that the Odyssey release date was announced

There isn’t even a question about whether someone would rather watch an MCU movie in IMAX vs not, even if its not filmed for IMAX like the majority of IMAX-released films anyway
