mcu wishes they could put something so visually striking and vulnerable as this in their superhero movies

    • Peter only nutting up to ask mj out after he lost his powers

    • She’s f***ing engaged and his ego can’t handle it so he’s trying to “pick up” where the left off (which was nowhere)

    • but yeah nice colors and soundtrack to make you feel “bad” for this cuck

    • he didn’t pull that s*** when Harry was f***ing her and slapping him like hoe in front of company

But yeah man Rami, colors, and set pieces what a great movie, perfect example of what Spider-Man should be

There is not one scene in the spider man mcu and potentially the whole of the mcu with this much emotional weight, level of film making or real human emotion

Nigga all he did was recap the first act of the last movie in the same monotone “sad” voice and Granny had the same shocked face the entire time and walked away

    Beautiful story telling

Spider- Man’s character is inherently guilty. that is what the whole mantra that’s core to his character is about. vulnerable. In this scene he owns up to what’s been weighing on him for months and what he sees as his weakest moment and in this vulnerablity he’s rejected. Idk what else you want from a film I know you hate raimi glaze but you’re brushing off a extremely real human moment, played with no music and one long shot of him actually acting his ass off to defend the MCU movies of all things

“Shocked face” yeah bro she just found out her nephew got her husband killed and has been lying about it for years most movies in general would have had her hit him with a “it’s okay” to make audiences feel better about themselves. Instead she does what a real person would, she doesn’t immediately forgive him, she doesn’t accept his hand at his most vulnerable and lowest and she just leaves him in there in silence and in anguish.

There isn’t anything of the sort in the mcu bro I’m sorry.

Brah these ain’t even remotely the same scenes with remotely the same weight

In fact it embodies exactly what I’m saying the mcu lacks in comparison to something like spiderman 2 and why people s*** on tom as iron boy lmao

You’re literally doing the heavy lifting justifying these lackluster performances.

Ben’s death isn’t even mentioned for the rest of the movie. So it’s so realistic that she storms off because her nephew had a part in her husbands death and doesn’t bring it up again? They don’t even touch on that fact for THE REST OF THE FRANCHISE

Stark being so central to his story that he can use a stark internship to cover up . Comparing the vulnerability and humanness of Tobey maguire spider man to hollands based on just the writing not even the nostalgia is baffling . Tobey was best at being both well . Having to have a secret identity , job and unique situations he missed out on .

You wanted her to go at him lol. She eventually realizes 100% he is spider man and that he can’t save everyone as he realizes with Norman , Harry and doc ock

Again idk what to tell you bro. - YES that’s what realistic about it. That is how human beings act in real life, they don’t just joke their way out of it. You’re being hit in the face with cinema from multiple angles in that scene and responding with the weakest retort of a scene with part of its emotional weight having to do with iron man taking away Pete’s super suit 😭

Meanwhile the raimi scene is central to Peter and May’s relationship moving forward and moves us towards closing that thread in the raimi films.

There is no more need to rehash Ben after - it’s a climatic character moment leading us to the resolution of their arc in this film which is her forgiving him and encouraging him to take up the mantle of Spider Man again bc it’s what Ben would have wanted and it’s what New York (which is basically itself a character in the first two raimi films represented by the way its people respond to and support spiderman that also makes it feel like real living place in a way it doesn’t in the mcu) needs.

It’s central to him being honest with his loved ones, central to him growing as a person and ultimately leads him to be honest with himself about who he needs to be and the sacrifices that come with that which is the WHOLE POINT OF THE MOVIE AND THE ETHOS BEN DIES TO INSTILL. Ben’s influence is in quite literally everything Peter does as spiderman until he gets big headed asf in the third bro
